Protestant Religious Education Coordinator
Overview: The Protestant Religious Education (RE) Coordinator serves as the advisor, direct resource, and coordinator of RE for the Holloman Air Force Base (AFB) Chaplain Corps Protestant Program. This is a part time position approximately 15 hours per week during duty hours to include Sundays. [Sunday Service (2.5 hours), Monday - Friday Planning hours (10 hours), First Wednesday of the Month Staff Meeting (2 hours), PAC meeting one (1) time per month (1.5 hours)]
Duties Include: Present/ensure any Religious Education Program PowerPoint slides and announcements are given to the faith group chaplain or designee by Thursday morning of each week for advertising at the weekly worship service.
Oversees RE programs and all weekly studies including: couples, singles, single parent, men, women, young adult, youth, and children groups of the chapel.
Arrive at chapel for the beginning of classes no later than 30 minutes prior to the event or as coordinated with the faith group chaplain and stay until all classes have ended and clean the facility.
Each Sunday oversee/visit/provide Sunday school classes, Children’s Church, and Wee Church (if Wee Church is not already provided or requested by the faith group chaplain).
Develop/maintain a data base roster of all Bible Study teachers, and volunteers.
Assist chaplains and laity in ordering goods and services in support of the Protestant RE programs.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or higher. Documented evidence of the following is an acceptable substitute: five (5) years’ experience in management OR five (5) years’ experience in church administration, which can include volunteer service.
Must be experienced in working with MS Office Programs (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.) and social media (Facebook, Twitter, etc.). Applicant must adhere to computer security requirements and usage. Applicant must comply with copyright license reporting and copyright license identification procedures.
Ability to effectively manage and coordinate activities and facilitate communication between the chapel community and other base organizations.
Online Information Assurance Awareness Training is required for Government computer access and Total Force Awareness is a requirement for all on-base personnel. A Common Access Card may be issued to allow government computer, internet, and e-mail access to fulfill contracted service requirements.
Be able to read and speak English fluently, and provide positive customer service in an interfaith pluralistic environment.
DoD Qualifying Security Clearance: Individual fulfilling this position is required to submit to an Installation Background Check.
