Caregiver/Companion for overnight - NOT heavy medical care
I’m looking for an experienced, reliable overnight caregiver/companion for my 84-year-old mother who lives in an assisted living community in Winter Garden.
She has dementia and is physically mobile. The main goal is safety and gentle redirection at night – NOT heavy medical care.
Duties:
Quiet overnight presence
Redirect her calmly if she tries to leave or enter other residents’ rooms
Escort her safely to the restroom if needed
Offer reassurance and conversation if she wakes up confused
Communicate brief nightly notes to me about any issues
Schedule:
Approx. 10:00 PM – 4:00/5:00 AM
3–5 nights per week to start (exact days flexible)
This is a private-pay position (not through the facility)
Requirements:
Experience with dementia/Alzheimer’s (professional or strong personal experience)
Calm, patient, and reliable – no drama, no flakiness
Able to pass a background check
Non-smoker, comfortable in an assisted living environment
Must be okay checking in with the nursing staff at the beginning/end of shifts
Compensation:
$18–20/hour to start, depending on experience, paid weekly
Potential to increase rate after the first month if it’s a good fit
