Position Title: Veterinary Technician/Nurse

Department: Clinical Medical Team

Reports To: Lead Veterinary Technician

Job Type: Full-time / Part-time

The Veterinary Technician role is instrumental in delivering gold standard patient care, customer support and product stewardship. Reporting to a Veterinary Technician Supervisor, you will have the opportunity to leverage veterinary expertise and clinical experience to provide solutions for a diverse customer base. A Veterinary Technician supports veterinarians in diagnosing and treating animals. They are responsible for clinical and administrative tasks, including patient care, laboratory testing, surgical assistance, and client communication. The ideal candidate is compassionate, detail-oriented, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities: The purpose of the position is to serve as a technical and patient support resource for Belleview Veterinary Hospital (BVH) & Central Florida Veterinary Hospital (CFVH) customers by engaging in primary care of their pets, providing gold standard health care and recording information related to potential visit events Additionally, the support of projects and initiatives as needed

Prioritize availability to BVH/CFVH customers and project an attitude of exceptional customer service in all aspects of job execution.

Maintain a high level of technical proficiency related to veterinary products, procedures and services provided at BVH/CFVH and the role of a veterinary technician as a

direct result of clinical practice experience and training provided for the role.

Learn and/or demonstrate satisfactory knowledge of the veterinary products, procedures and services provided at BVH/CFVH associated with daily execution of the role.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and treatments

Collect and prepare laboratory samples (blood, urine, feces) for analysis

Monitor vital signs and anesthesia during surgical procedures

Perform diagnostic tests such as X-rays and lab work

Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed

Maintain accurate patient records and update charts

Provide post-operative care and instructions to pet owners

Clean and sterilize equipment, surgical instruments, and exam rooms

Manage inventory and restock medical supplies

Educating clients on pet health, nutrition, and preventative care

Other tasks as needed

Basic Qualifications:

Minimum Educational Requirement: High School diploma.

Minimum Specific Experience Requirement: A minimum of two years of clinical experience as a veterinary assistant in private, corporate, or academic veterinary medicine.

Additional Skills/Preferences:

Additional clinical experience and/or a degree from an accredited veterinary technician school is preferred but not required. Associate's Degree in Veterinary Technology or equivalent Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT), Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), or Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) status (preferred but not required)

Ability to ask appropriate questions to determine and capture all clinically relevant data from reporter.

Excellent communication and organizational skills, including basic conflict resolution with customers.

Proficient with basic computer and keyboard utilization, including experience with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint or capable of learning new systems and processes. Prior experience in a veterinary setting, strong animal handling and restraint skills. Familiarity with veterinary software and medical terminology. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Effective time management skills
