Overview:
Tropical Cheese Industries is seeking a motivated and results-driven Sales Representative to manage and grow a defined sales territory based in West Palm Beach, Florida. This field-based role is responsible for driving sales volume, expanding distribution, increasing shelf presence, and strengthening customer relationships within retail and food industry accounts.
The ideal candidate is bilingual (English/Spanish), highly organized, customer-focused, and experienced in on-the-road sales within the food or retail industry.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Meet or exceed assigned route quarterly and annual sales volume goals
Achieve performance goals and objectives communicated by management
Develop and expand shelf space and product placement in Dairy, Deli, and Meat departments
Secure and coordinate store-level advertising and promotional activities
Maintain and grow secondary displays for featured and high-volume products
Identify, prospect, and develop new customers and store locations within the assigned territory
Open new accounts and onboard new retail locations
Install and maintain point-of-sale (POS) materials, including price tags, shelf strips, and floor decals
Manage and maintain dump-to-sales ratios below targeted thresholds
Ensure proper product rotation (FIFO), remove near-expiration or damaged products, and maintain presentation standards
Restock shelves using available back stock prior to placing orders
Visit and engage with department managers and buyers at least biweekly
Conduct product demonstrations and presentations using samples or catalogs
Support and execute store setups, resets, and planogram compliance
Perform biweekly market pricing audits and report findings
Proactively report opportunities and issues, including competitive activity, product quality concerns, store openings/closures, and special events
Coordinate with Accounts Receivable to ensure all accounts are financially current
Take and record refrigeration unit temperature readings at the store level
Maintain accurate and organized sales files, binders, and route documentation
Update route sales call books and customer records monthly
Prepare and submit sales activity reports and expense reports monthly
Attend all required sales meetings and company training
Perform other duties as assigned to support company and business objectives
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of sales experience (preferred)
Prior field sales experience in retail, grocery, dairy, deli, meat, or food service strongly preferred
Language Skills:
Bilingual English/Spanish required
Ability to read, write, and comprehend basic business correspondence
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group settings
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate discounts, commissions, percentages, proportions, and other basic sales metrics
Ability to apply basic algebra and geometry concepts as needed for sales analysis
Licenses and Requirements:
Valid driver’s license required
Ability to travel daily within assigned territory
Position is field-based and not remote
