Bidder / Assistant Project Manager
Top-rated, Chicago Interior Design and Renovation firm (and amazing place to work) is seeking a Bidder / Assistant Project Manager. This is a great opportunity for someone with project management, logistics, or bookkeeping experience, looking to transfer their skills to a new role. Construction industry experience is not required, but analytical thinking is. Everything for this role can be learned by a capable candidate.
Our focus is providing high-end residential interior design and custom construction services in the Chicago area. We take pride in taking care of our clients and our employees, some of whom have been with us for more than 20 years.

The Bidder / Asst Project manager supports our construction team in all aspects regarding bidding, contracts, procurement, etc.
Key Responsibilities to be mastered over time include:
1. Implementing Logistics
a. Ordering materials and tracking materials to be ready for the construction start date.
b. Coordinating deliveries to the jobsite(s).
c. Coordinating with building management to schedule permission to work, elevators, loading docks, plumbing shutoffs etc.
d. Coordinating subcontractors as needed for pricing and work.
e. Tracking costs and updating files relating to material change orders.
f. Assisting the review of final drawings and notifying shop for cabinetry production.
g. Assisting arranging field visits with shop for cabinetry measurements.
2. Bidding and plan evaluation
a. Executing plan take-offs.
b. Pricing materials.
c. Coordinating with designers and clients to update plans and specifications for technical or budgetary reasons.
d. Managing subcontractors in their bidding process:
i. Scheduling visits and following up on estimates.
ii. Entering and marking up quotes in the file.
e. Co-managing the bidding process through client approval of construction contracts.
f. Updating clients on the schedule and answering their questions from time to time.
g. Generating, sending out, and tracking contracts.
3. Implementing pre-construction routines
a. Requesting certificate of insurance and licenses - internal and subcontractors.
b. Submitting required documents to building for approval and following up on status.
c. Coordinating permit process with expeditor as needed.

Candidates will be tested for math, their professionalism in dealing with client situations, and their ability to learn and master new skills.
Work Days: Monday through Friday – Hybrid office/remote
Work Hours: full-time
Starting Salary: $25-40 hourly based on experience, more if justified by relevant experience.
