Sport fishing deckhand

Looking to for someone who loves to fish and is great with customers. This job starts early, 4:45 AM. The days can run long, if something like the toilet breaks during the day we stay late to fix it to be ready for the next day. Not an hourly rate but a trip rate.

Your job entails vessel cleaning and maintenance, fishing gear maintenance, great customer service, chatting with our guests throughout the day making sure they are comfortable and safe from potential hazards. We deal with big fish so safety is number one.

Aside from your per trip rate you split tips with the captain. We earn the tips by providing a great experience, putting our customers on fish, and taking good care of them throughout the day, cleaning and keeping a well maintained vessel. You will also earn a percentage of fish sales. We do 1-2 trips per day. When we don't have trips we do vessel maintenance. Hauling fish to the market is also part of the job so someone with a truck is preferred. You may be picking up ice in the morning for the days trip. This job is a great gateway into a prosperous career in the maritime industry as you will gain experience and sea time you can put towards acquiring licenses and certificates for the industry.
