Civil Engineering Discipline Lead, Aviation

AECOM is seeking a Civil Engineering Discipline Leader to support aviation design management in our Hunt Valley, Maryland office within the Transportation Aviation Business Line. This role supports the delivery of airport and airfield projects focused on safety, compliance, improvements, and expansion, spanning the full project lifecycle from planning through construction.The role includes design, coordination, and construction support for a wide range of airport infrastructure projects, while also providing technical leadership and mentorship within the civil engineering team.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Leading civil engineering design efforts for airport development projects, including runways, taxiways, aprons, terminals, and related facilitiesProviding technical leadership and serving as a subject matter expert within the aviation civil engineering groupPlanning and overseeing design activities, including airfield layout, site grading, drainage, pavement design, and stormwater managementPreparing and reviewing construction documents, including plans, specifications (FAA AC 150/5370-10), schedules, design reports, and cost estimatesCoordinating utility design, environmental permitting, and regulatory complianceUsing Civil 3D and other design tools to develop and review engineering plans and calculationsCollaborating with multidisciplinary teams, subconsultants, clients, utilities, and regulatory agenciesServing as task leader, providing oversight, mentorship, and guidance to engineers, designers, and CAD staffResolving complex technical challenges and making independent engineering decisionsSupporting construction activities, including shop drawing reviews, responding to contractor inquiries, and performing inspections
