Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunityThe Chief Information Security Office is seeking an experienced Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Architect within Digital Services. This position focuses on uplifting and maturing Business Continuity (BC) and Disaster Recovery (DR) capability across the organisation, alongside strengthening and evolving IT risk management practices as part of a growing resilience capability.The role includes implementing and embedding BC/DR frameworks, leading the creation of Disaster Recovery Plans (DRPs), delivering training and exercises, and establishing sustainable best practices. The specialist will work closely with Product Owners, engineering teams and Delivery Teams, and will also provide coaching and capability-building support to an existing Business Continuity Specialist.This is a hands-on, senior role requiring a high degree of autonomy, suited to someone confident leading within an evolving environment and able to independently navigate complexity while shaping best practice.Please note, this is a full-time (37.5 hours/ week) permanent position, with a salary range of $159,900 - $176,800 per annum (prorated) depending on skills and experience.For more detailed information, please refer to the Position Description.Ngā Pūkenga Motuhake | Important SkillsExtensive experience in Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery operations and management.Demonstrated experience implementing BC/DR frameworks, leading BIAs, and facilitating DR testing and exercises.Strong background in governance, IT risk and compliance, or BC/DR management.Ability to mentor, coach and uplift the capability of others.Skilled in workshop facilitation, communication and cross-functional stakeholder engagement.Ability to interpret resilience data, develop useful metrics, and provide informed recommendations.Mō tō mātou rōpū | About the teamRātonga Matihiko | Connect is the service division with accountability for agreeing the University’s digital strategy and executing its technology plan. Its responsibilities are broad and its expertise and focus areas span product and service lines, from provision of devices, seamless connectivity and collaboration services, to supporting learning, teaching, research and administration with software‑based solutions, high‑performance computing, and supporting new learning and teaching delivery modes. The function has also incubated and led the establishment of new ways of working, including agile delivery and human‑centred design, championing cross‑functional collaboration and teamwork to better solve customer problems. It continues to demystify and democratise the benefits of digital across all parts of the University.He kōrero mōu | About youExtensive experience in Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity is essential, with a track record of working across multiple organisations. A strong ability to uplift low maturity DR/BCP environments, identify gaps and risks, and implement sustainable, repeatable frameworks is key.Comfortable engaging with technical teams, engineering groups and senior stakeholders, you will contribute both strategic guidance and hands-on delivery. The role also involves coaching and developing an existing Business Continuity Specialist to ensure effective capability transfer throughout the term.
