Opportunity to join the Disability Rights movement with a progressive, non-profit, public interest law firm. The Disability Law Center of Alaska is seeking a full-time Legal Rights Advocate to promote and protect the legal and civil rights of Alaskans with disabilities, while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

We are committed to providing an equitable workplace where people with disabilities, LGBTQ+ people, Indigenous, Black, Latinx, Asian, Pacific Islander, and other people of color can all thrive. Staff diversity, including socioeconomic background, is integral to providing effective representation to Alaska’s underserved communities.

The Legal Rights Advocate will engage in individual and systemic advocacy on behalf of individuals with disabilities in the areas of employment, voting rights, assistive technology, and ensuring that the rights of social security beneficiaries with representative payees are protected. The Advocate is also expected to work with agencies and task forces on systems and policy issues, and community education and outreach. The successful applicant must pass a Social Security Administration background check.

We welcome individuals with a range of life experiences. Experience specific to disability rights issues is preferred but not required. Interested applicants should have a passion for serving their community, have excellent written and oral advocacy skills, be self-directed and enjoy collaborating with a team.
