The Executive Director must have outstanding communication skills and strong relationship building skills. We will be conducting interviews virtually for selected candidates until further notice.Department:Women and Public Policy ProgramPre-Employment Screening:Credit, Criminal, Education, IdentityJob Function:General Administration Job-Specific Responsibilities:The Women and Public Policy (WAPPP) at the Harvard Kennedy School (HKS) seeks a new Executive Director with demonstrated experience as a team builder and organizational leader, a track record of successful collaboration with a broad range of stakeholders, ideally including faculty, donors, senior leaders in practice, as well as professional students, and expertise in and a passion for gender in public policy and leadership. In collaboration with the WAPPP Faculty Co-Directors (Co-Directors, hereafter), the Executive Director will help to map out a strategy for organizational growth and impact, manage donor engagement and development, and oversee the center’s programming and operations. HKS is a vibrant and values-driven community and we actively seek applications from candidates who demonstrate a commitment to building diverse and inclusive organizations.WAPPP’s mission is to equip leaders and changemakers with evidence-based strategies to advance women and gender equity. WAPPP fulfills its mission by producing, funding, and disseminating rigorous, cutting-edge research through publications, media, academic conferences and public events. The Executive Director will manage a small core staff with responsibility for donor relations, fundraising, communications and outreach, programming and events (e.g., seminars, fellows, student grants and awards), and administration and finance. The Executive Director will work with affiliated faculty to further their research agendas, oversee research administration, and help build a bridge to impact the world of practice. The Executive Director will also serve as a key liaison between WAPPP and the Harvard Kennedy School’s central administration, the Harvard community, and external stakeholders.The Executive Director will work directly with all of WAPPP’s donors. This includes close coordination with WAPPP’s 130-member Women’s Leadership Board, which is a global body of senior leaders in business and the non-profit sector that supports WAPPP philanthropically and by providing strategic support. The Executive Director will serve as the key relationship manager with members of this board, including guiding recruitment, onboarding, and ensuring sustained engagement.WAPPP’s leadership and staff are dedicated to the goal of building a diverse community of contributors, supporters, and external stakeholders.
