Senior Technical Data Analyst - Full time or Consulting

A Leading Investment Bank in Jersey City, NJ (REMOTE FOR NOW) is looking for BOTH a Full-Time, permanent employee (VP or SVP), and a Long-Term Consultant for a Senior Technical Data Analyst: The Technical Data Analyst will be performing Data Analysis on several inter-dependent, highly complex data requirements across several lines of business in the Investment Bank. Successful candidate will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills. The Senior Data Analyst will work with application development teams and their interdependencies and will demonstrate partnership skills by interacting with other technology teams within the company to understand, document and interpret complex Data requirements. In addition, this candidate will be able to work closely with business partners and data owners, to define, track and manage various data migration and data quality work streams. You will bring technical expertise to ensure the quality and accuracy of that data, then process, design and present it in ways to help people, businesses, and organizations make better decisions.

• Collecting, interpreting and analyzing data.
• Mapping the data to the Logical Data Model.
• Coming up with statistical anomalies, correlations and patterns in the data.
• Work in tandem with multiple departments and management to establish data needs and reporting requirements.
• Communicate with management and multiple departments to identify data solutions and opportunities to leverage data to grow the business.
• Oversee and manage master data content, while culling data from primary and secondary sources.
• Commissioning and decommissioning data sets as needed, while maintaining, cleaning and organizing data sets as needed.
• Test data set validations and clean our data sets to ensure the most accurate reporting.
• Identify and correct problems in our data sets, including performing quality assurance on imported data.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Information Technology, Economics or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of database languages such as SQL
• Capability of translating data sets and models, including experience with relational databases and managing large data sets.
• Strong analytical mindset that translates to superior data gathering, cleansing, transforming, and more.
• Ability to identify and implement data improvements, including new tools, software, and other associated programs that can streamline our data environment.
• Superior communication skills, both written and verbal, including presenting your findings to management.
• Strong problem solving and trouble shooting skills that lend themselves to inventive solutions.
• An eagle-eye attention to detail.
