Data Management Specialist90 day Contract to Hire, located in Phoenix, AZ

  • Design and implement effective database solutions and models to store and retrieve company data to support applications, reporting, analytics and other business needs
  • Ensure design of framework to support enterprise data activities meets the high availability and security needs of the business
  • Establish governance rules, controls and processes to make data available for business operations while maintaining data integrity, security and organization
  • Manage data team members, consultants, and vendors supporting development efforts while treating them with the Sunstate core values
  • Prepare accurate database design and architecture reports for management and executive teams
  • Work with IT Operations, IT Support, and vendors to monitor system performance, troubleshooting, and respond to system problems in a timely manner
  • Work with IT Compliance Manager to fulfill compliance duties
  • Recommend solutions to improve new and existing database systems
  • Oversee the migration of data from legacy systems to new solutions when applicable
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge and awareness of emerging technology, industry trends and best practices related to enterprise data storage and security
  • Communicate, communicate, communicate timely and thoroughly
Required Skill and Experience you have
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience working with enterprise data solutions
  • Deep understanding of database structures and data mining
  • Understanding of data architecture and modeling practices and concepts including entity-relationship diagrams, normalization, abstraction, denormalization, dimensional modeling, and metadata modeling practices
  • Experience with various data modeling and design patterns around both operation data stores and data warehouse
  • Experience with a variety of database technologies such as SQL Server or DB2
  • Ability to balance tactical delivery with strategic vision and articulate the tradeoffs and recommendations as needed
  • Experience defining and negotiating solution options while considering risks, costs, and impact on the enterprise business processes and goals
  • Maintains a flexible schedule to accomplish tasks
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills with ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Must be able to meet performance, productivity, efficiency, and quality standards
Preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related technical or business discipline
  • Experience as a data engineer or software engineer
  • Working knowledge of next generation data platforms including Cosmos DB, NoSQL, Graph, Data Virtualization, and in-memory datastores
  • Familiarity with next generation data platforms on major cloud providers such as Azure or AWS
  • Experience with enterprise search engines such as SOLR or Elasticsearch
  • Experience with Master Data Management concepts
  • Experience with Agile methodologies including Scrum and Kanban
  • Understanding of modern application design and data access including .NET frameworks, event-driven architectures, domain-driven design and microservices
