Vacancy expired!

Project Manager is responsible for managing the design and installation of architectural glass & wood office front systems in buildings within New York, Chicago and Boston.

The position includes creating quotations for construction opportunities which are out to tender. This begins by reviewing all of the architectural & construction drawings to create a detailed specification set. Once the specification has been established, Project Manager will create a detailed design of the office front system which would be most closely related to what the architect is looking for. Project Manager then sends pricing which includes all materials, labor and freight to complete the installation and send back to the general contractor & Architect for review. If there are any questions or concerns about the product, Project Manager will set up a presentation for the client to review the product.

Once a job has been awarded to the Company, Project Manager must liaise with the General Contractor & Architect and explain the method and potential barriers to successfully implementing the installation, and what is expected of the Company and client.

The next phase is to go to the job site and measure the entire area using advanced laser systems and numerical methods. From the data gathered, Project Manager will create construction shop drawings in AutoCad or Revit computer aided design (CAD) & building information modeling (BIM) software. This drawing must be an exact scale and orientation of the internal offices containing a production list of all parts & conditions necessary for the installation. This drawing is then sent to the manufacturing site in Italy to produce the metal, glass, wood and hardware.

As the material is being produced, Project Manager must regularly visit the site to check on the progress of the building. Project Manager must re-check all measurements to make sure no site conditions have changed which will cause the installation to fail and discuss any issues with the contractor.

Once the material has been produced, it is shipped from Italy to the location of the Job. Project Manager must continuously maintain contact with the manufacturer in Italy to make sure project remains on schedule. Project Manager organizes a team of installers, glazers and carpenters to be onsite to complete the installation. During this time Project Manager is the sole point of contact for any problems or questions the installers may have. Project Manager manages their time, pay and productivity.

Once the installation is completed, Project Manager must walk the entire job and create a punch list of any problems which need to be re-worked or fixed. This is the final step in the physical installation.

As the market is constantly changing, design of office fronts must be able to adapt with the market. Contact with Architects & clients helps to gain an insight into their design wants and needs. Therefore, Project Manager must draw and design new structures & plans and present them to the manufacturing company. Project Manager meets and discusses the feasibility of these designs and plans how to proceed to make the designs come to life, along with the costs associated and the mechanical strength/viability, tolerances and complexity of manufacturing such a system.

5 supervised team members are as follows: 5 Assistant Project Managers.
