Legal Secretary/Paralegal for Med-Legal Firm

Med-Legal Nursing Company is seeking a full time (40 hours/week) Paralegal/Legal Secretary in San Diego to provide support for our Life Care Planners and Nurse Case Managers to meet the clinical and medical needs of our patients in San Diego & Southern California. Please note this is IN OFFICE MONDAY-FRIDAY 8AM-430PM, THIS IS NOT A REMOTE POSITION.

Responsibilities

Log in scan Medical and Legal records received and maintain/update company record log.

Provide daily updates (via email) of all records received to Life Care Planners and Case Managers.

Provide deposition transcription of highlights after they're reviewed by our medical professional.

Analyze and write summaries of all records received.

Organize and track case files.

Organize and catalog all relevant documents for trial.

Provide calendaring for all Nurses' med-legal appointments.

Assist in trial preparation including expert lists, exhibitions and trial binders.

Engage in trial research including record and written report research.

Assist Bookkeeper in monthly billing.

Qualifications

Candidate must be living in San Diego County or plan to move to San Diego County for a reason beyond this position

One of the following educational experiences

o Associate Degree or B.S. in Paralegal Studies and Paralegal certificate OR

o Legal Secretary Certificate with at least 1-year experience required

At least three years of experience as a Legal Secretary or Paralegal with a law firm/legal entity.

Computer literacy (including internet research & Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint) required.

Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) or fluency in any language besides English preferred.

Ability to project a positive and professional image when interacting with professionals of all levels.

Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
