Lead Architect- Architect Level III – Key Employee; Leadership Position

We are an established residential design-build remodeling firm with a stellar reputation, that is looking for an outstanding key hire for a vital position. Our projects are designed and built with in-house personnel, for a seamless deliverable client experience. Required Education and Experience

o Bachelor or Masters Degree in Architecture, or Engineering, or Building Construction

o Excellent Transcripts

o Architectural License a strong plus

o 8+ years in all aspects of residential remodeling design and/or construction

Required Skills and Qualifications

o Proficiency in: Revit, AutoCAD, MS Office, Adobe, Sketchup, Project Management Software, 3D rendering

o Excellent technical skills in Residential Design, Structural, Construction Documents

o Well-developed understanding and adherence to Virginia, Maryland, and Washington DC Residential building codes, and affinity for researching unknown aspects

o Analytical Skills - ability to recognize problems, distill and define pertinent issues, and determine and propose effective solutions

o Excellent interpersonal skills combined with desire to work with clients and all disciplines related to position

o Excellent written and oral communication skills

Duties and Responsibilities

o Accountable and Responsible for quality and accuracy of all design and construction drawings, details, selections, discussions, engineering, permitting

Construction Budget

o A construction budget is established very early in the process. Work within the budget. Creatively value-engineer design, selections, and details to comply with budget. Discuss budget with client immediately whenever design discussions will impact the budget.

Existing Conditions:

o Measure and produce accurate as-built drawings, including existing conditions analysis

o Understand hidden aspects of existing construction types for residential structures built between 1920’s and present

Design

o Interface with Client and/or project Salesperson to assess client needs

o Create project schematic design floor plans and elevations that meet the construction budget and the clients needs, Edit/revise design as required

o Understand construction budget and adhere to it in design

o Take the lead on selections/specifications that are outside of Kitchen and Bath/Interior Designer’s purview

o Interface with Salesperson, Kitchen and Bath Designer, Production Manager, and Estimator

o Stay on top of current design trends

o Produce 2D and 3D views to advance the client’s decision-making process.

Construction Drawings

o Produce accurate floor plans, exterior elevations, interior elevations, building sections, construction details including structural details, and framing plans

o Review work for accuracy, compliance, and coordination across all disciplines

o Coordinate with salesperson, estimator, specification writer, and production manager throughout construction of each project, as-needed

o Research code requirements for building construction,

Specifications

o Perform product research and incorporation into design. For example; window and door specifications, manufacturer, style, material, color, sizing, tempering, etc; and create accurate orders using manufacturer’s software

o Write specifications, collaborating with Salesperson/Estimator and Client

Engineering

o Understand engineering and facilitate easy communication with structural engineer.

o Ability to perform structural engineering a strong plus

Permits

o Gather all pertinent information from County, Client, and existing job site conditions, prior to start of design, regarding zoning, building requirements, Health Department, Site review. Perform all design and construction documents within these parameters, to ensure successful issuance of permit

o Assemble permit package and apply for permits, including interface with survey(or) and plat

o Respond to county comments and re-submit

Construction Management

o Coordinate with Construction Manager as-needed for successful completion of projects.
