Store Manager | Wine & Spirits Boutique (Full-Time)

We’re a boutique retail wine and spirits shop based in DUMBO, Brooklyn. York Cellars curates a selection of uncommon international and domestic wines, with an emphasis on organic and biodynamic production from small-to-mid-sized producers.

YOU

Management

+ Have a proven track record of managing and scheduling a team of people in the wine and spirits industry (retail, importer, or restaurant)

Personal

+ Confident, detail-oriented person with integrity; reliable and punctual

+ Comfortable operating independently and solving day-to-day issues for a bustling wine shop

+ Self-starter mentality with a friendly, outgoing, customer-first demeanor

+ Committed to setting the tone for a positive work environment for the staff

Technical

+ Experienced with point-of-sale and other industry systems (LightSpeed, PROVI, etc.)

+ Comfortable working with spreadsheets and running reports

Knowledge

+ Have an advanced level of wine education from WSET - or equivalent industry experience

+ Firm grasp on wine pairings / winemaking fundamentals

+ Familiar with NY-based importers, regions, varietals

+ Previous experience maintaining and monitoring inventory

RESPONSIBILITIES + REQUIREMENTS

+ Oversee our team of retail wine professionals

+ Onboard and train new team members

+ Set team schedule and manage time-off requests; run tip reporting

+ Schedule weekly in-store tastings; maintain a calendar of vendors and products showcased

+ Participate in tastings and assist owners in buying decisions; oversee spirits ordering

+ Tee up wine and spirits orders

+ Price and enter new SKUs into the shop POS

+ Vet incoming wine deliveries for accuracy, vintage, shipment issues, credits, etc.

+ Conduct ongoing inventory monitoring and management

+ Retail sales - assist our wonderful customers with selecting wines, and suggesting food pairings

+ Opening and closing retail duties

+ Maintain the physical appearance and merchandising within the store

We’re open seven days per week, but keep very civilized shop hours. As the manger, evenings, weekends and some holidays come with the job!

COMPENSATION

This is a salaried position. We offer a fair, competitive salary, commensurate with experience. Additional benefits include: paid time off, a monthly healthcare stipend, transportation subsidy, awesome employee discounts - and many other perks. This role offers lots of room for professional and wage growth. Annual salary range: $65k - $85k.
