Role: Skid Steer/ Excavator Operator

Report To: Director of Operations

Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly entrepreneurial person who can operate heavy construction equipment with precision to join our team. This position is responsible for operating, but not limited to, skid steers and excavator equipment as well as several types of construction equipment. At times, small tools such as a concrete saw may be required, as a problem-solver you will know what tool is best for the job. The ideal candidate is excited to grow with our small business, learn new trades, and eventually teach new team members.

We need trustworthy and dynamic individuals who can communicate effectively with home owners and construction contractors in a professional and knowledge fashion.

Prior experience working with underground pipe (deep sewer, water, storm, etc.) is preferred but not required. You will load, unload, materials for each job such as dirt, grass, concrete and other top level landscaping. As a Heavy Equipment Operator you work as part of a team with other skilled workers, jointly carrying out assigned construction tasks and at times you may work alone. You will be required to read and interpret instructions, plans and specifications with little or no supervision, but don’t worry we will teach you how to do it all.

Job Details:

This position is responsible for operating skid steer equipment and several types of construction equipment, such as excavator, concrete saw, and the ability to identify materials that need to be removed or placed to achieve the desired outcome of the job at hand

- Heavy Equipment Operators work as part of a team with other skilled workers, jointly carrying out assigned construction tasks

- At times they may work alone; this will require them to read and interpret instructions, plans and specifications with little or no supervision

- Arrives at jobsite and all meetings on time

- Operate the excavator/skid steer and other heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner

- Drive an F350 and or F250 with a tailer hauling 20K+ tons

- Conduct trench work and ensure trench is excavated to the proper depth/grade

- Cut grade with minimal time spent on excavating to ensure production is on schedule

- Perform all job tasks with integrity, along with treating clients and co-workers with respect

- Have an ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner

- Respond promptly to requests for service and assistance

- Follow all policies and procedures along with, completing assigned tasks correct and on time

- If completion of an assignment cannot be met on time notify Director immediately

- Maintain compliance in regard to all safety procedures, equipment operating procedures, company operating procedures, etc

- Have the ability to work well in group problem solving situations

- Perform routine daily maintenance on vehicles and equipment

- Perform skilled duties in operating various pieces of heavy equipment within capacity to operate as workload dictates

- Apply knowledge of traffic rules and regulations pertaining to the use of the heavy equipment, of the care and safe operation of a wide variety of heavy construction and maintenance equipment

- Perform and documents pre-shift inspection of the equipment

- Perform tasks within minimum supervision; understands and follows oral and written instructions; performs physical labor/manual tasks when required or as assigned

- Must grease their equipment every day or as directed

- Ensure all job responsibilities are covered in the event of a scheduled absence

- Promptly provide crew foreman with all necessary paperwork such as, time sheets, safety reports, time off requests, etc

- Report potentially unsafe conditions to crew foreman immediately

- Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

- Drivers License and clean driving record (Required)

- Heavy equipment operation: 2 years (Required)

- Prior experience working with underground pipe (deep sewer, water, storm,) (Preferred)

- Work authorization (if applicable Required)

Schedule:

Full- time, Monday to Friday 8 am - 6 pm with one hour lunch break

Weekend availability occasionally
