Job AnnouncementProvides oversights of the county’s Unified Communications support for operational activities and coordinates with contractors and outside service providers. Responds to service requests to the various user constituents (Fairfax County and Virginia State agencies) within the Government Center, in the areas of agency call/contact centers, call recording functions to include Interactive Voice Response (IVR). Works with agency representatives in analysis and documentation of technical business processes and develops appropriate solutions that meets customer’s requirements. Manages installs, operations, and maintenance of Video Teleconferencing Communications (VTC) solutions, telephony, and unified messaging platforms. Performs expert consultation relating to small to large-sized space planning and renovation efforts. Oversees operations on field inspections, cutovers, installations, and site-level issues. Works as a SME in directing programs for the Unified Communications Infrastructure and associated systems. Oversees activities of the UC Branch and emergency services and coordinates with any renovation efforts related to the county. Makes recommendations and provides guidance on customer agency operations and efforts in IT relating to the county. Determines staffing, resources and skills requirements related to IT operations and projects. Provides oversight to DIT leadership on UC strategies regarding Enterprise-wide systems and policy.Employment StandardsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the following: (https://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/hr/equivalencies-education-and-experience) (Click on the aforementioned link to learn how Fairfax County interprets equivalencies for "Any combination, experience, and training equivalent to") Possession of a bachelor's degree in computer science, or closely related field; plus six years of experience in systems design, development, and maintenance in a large information systems environment, including considerable supervisory experience.NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check to the satisfaction of the employer.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

At least five years of Managing Telecommunications platforms.

At least five years of experience working with 911 emergency center in communications.

Knowledge of PBX functionalities and Voice/Telephony components

Knowledge of cloud-based telephony solutions such as MS Teams, Cisco WebEx, Zoom, etc.

Understanding of call routing, trunking, and dial plans.

Knowledge of Unified Communication operations and procedures.

Knowledge of Contact Center functionality and procedures.

General knowledge of IVR and call recording applications.

Knowledge of converged technology protocols.

Basic understanding of H.323, VoIP and SIP protocols.

Understanding of DHCP, VLAN, and Communications desktop application configurations.
