STRUCTURAL SKID WELDER/FITTER

A facility located in NW Houston is in immediate need of a proficient structural skid welder/fitter! This is a great company with stable opportunity that has plenty of work and offers overtime as needed. In this welder/fitter role you’ll be responsible for cutting and joining mild or stainless steel with occasional fitting using GMAW and FCAW welding.

An in-shop welding test (AWS D1.1)/Fitting test will be administered before employment to show proficiency and skill set and will be UT and Graded for Results.

ALL CANDIDATES WILL BE REQUIRED TO PASS A PRE-EMPLOYMENT DRUG TEST.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensure proper alignment, fit-up, and dimensional accuracy before welding.

Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, welding symbols and specifications to determine job requirements.

Maintain welding equipment and machinery in good working condition.

Always ensure compliance with safety regulations and guidelines.

Weld metal components using MIG and FLUXCORE.

Recordkeeping such as logging welding parameters, materials used, and any issues encountered during the welding process.

Inspect welds and welded assemblies to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.

Ensure compliance with welding codes and standards relevant to the industry (e.g., AWS D1.1 for structural welding).

Assemble and fit structural components onto skids or frames based on detailed drawings and instructions.

Collaborate effectively with other team members, including supervisors, engineers, and fellow welders, to achieve production goals and resolve technical issues.

REQUIREMENTS:

3+ years of welding/fitting experience.

Welding certificate (preferred)

Valid ID and own vehicle.

Capable of welding in 6G position

Own proper PPE (welding hood, steel toe boots, FR clothing, etc.)

Basic math skills.

Ability to pass administered welding and/or fitting test.

Must be able to identify and read welding symbols.

Physical strength and stamina needed to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs.
