STRUCTURAL FITTER

A Structural Fitter is needed for a manufacturing company located in Northwest Houston. This is a great opportunity for an experienced fitter who is looking for professional development. As a structural fitter for this company, you will be tasked to analyze welding blueprints and welding symbols to assure components are up to code and ready to be welded using GMAW (MIG) and FCAW (FluxCore) processes.

In-Shop Fitting test will be administered before employment to show proficiency and skill set. Will be graded for results

ALL CANDIDATES WILL BE REQUIRED TO PASS A PRE-EMPLOYMENT DRUG SCREENING.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reading and Interpreting Drawings, these documents detail the dimensions, tolerances, materials, and assembly instructions.

Select appropriate materials based on the specifications and dimensions outlined in the drawings.

Use precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, or rulers, fitters measure and mark the materials according to the dimensions specified in the drawings.

Aligning and positioning parts to ensure proper fit and functionality. Techniques such as clamping, tack welding (if welding is involved)

Check and verify dimensions, angles, and alignments against the engineering drawings and specifications.

Filing, grinding, or machining surfaces to ensure smoothness and proper alignment. Deburring sharp edges and ensuring surfaces are free from imperfections are also part of the finishing process.

Perform a final inspection to ensure all components are securely fitted and meet quality standards.

Operate under OSHA safety standard guidelines.

REQUIREMENTS:

3+ Years of fitting experience.

Welding Certificate. (preferred)

Valid ID and own vehicle.

Capable of welding in 6G and/or 3G position.

Must be able to identify and read welding symbols.

Fitters must be comfortable not only passing a written fitting test but also an in-shop fitting test.

Great math skills.

Physical strength and stamina needed to lift up to 50 lbs.

Own steel toes and own PPE.
