Brownfields Tribal Response Project Coordinator – The Tribal Response Project Coordinator will support the Chief Scientist in the EPA-funded Brownfields project. The incumbent will work with the designed Brownfields contractor to produce an inventory of contaminated sites that may impact Knik Tribe. The inventory will include all available information as well as correspondence with private, borough, state, federal and Tribal entities. The Coordinator will perform outreach to the Tribal Council and membership to prioritize sites within the inventory. Additional environmental program tasks such as grants development, Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation Brownfields Assessment & Cleanup (DBAC) applications, and coordination with partner organizations may be required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will:

Maintain regular and open communication with coworkers, Tribal Council, Tribal members, Contractor and partner organizations.

Maintain existing and develop new partnerships and projects with the regional organizations, state and federal agencies, non-profit organizations, Tribes and university researchers.

Prepare deliverables for the Brownfields program.

Attend meetings, conferences, trainings, and workshops in support of program development and staff capacity building.

Take primary responsibility for developing the Tribal Contaminated Sites inventory, DBAC applications, EPA Cooperative Agreements, quarterly reports, project reporting to Tribal Council, reviews of Conceptual Site Models, and Eco-scoping models used to determine cleanup levels.

Maintain a public record presenting the inventory and site narratives.

Prepare and implement public outreach and communication events, in-person or virtual depending on circumstances, regarding impacts to lands in Alaska.

Document field and site activities using standard operating procedures.

Perform all other duties as assigned.

Required Requirements:

Must have a bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences, toxicology, remediation, or a related field, or a minimum of four years of relevant work experience may be substituted for a college degree.

Two (2) years’ experience coordinating environmental programs.

Demonstrated experience building and maintaining positive relationships.

Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.

Must be able to work independently with little direct supervision.

Must be proficient in Microsoft Office 365 programs, including Excel, and Word.

Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record.

Clean state and federal background check.

Schedule: Monday – Friday; 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Salary: $28.50 - $30.00 per hour DOE/E. Full-time employees will receive full benefits to include: Federal Employee Health Benefits (FEHB) medical, dental, vision, life insurance, paid leave and holidays, and retirement plan with matching contributions.
