Brownfields Tribal Response Contractor – Knik Tribe is seeking a Brownfields Tribal Response Contractor to support the Knik Tribe’s Tribal Response Project Coordinator and the Chief Scientist in the EPA-funded Brownfields project. The contractor will assist the Project Coordinator to produce an inventory of contaminated sites that may impact the Knik Tribe. The inventory will include all available information as well as correspondence with private, borough, state, federal and Tribal entities. The Contractor will assist the Project Coordinator with Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation Brownfields Assessment & Cleanup (DBAC) applications, and coordination with partner organizations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintain existing and develop new partnerships and projects with tribal regional organizations, state and federal agencies, non-profit organizations, Tribes, and university researchers.

Prepare deliverables for the Brownfields program.

Develop the Tribal Contaminated Sites inventory, DBAC applications, EPA Cooperative Agreements, quarterly reports, project reporting to Tribal Council, reviews of Conceptual Site Models, and Eco-scoping models used to determine cleanup levels.

Maintain a public record presenting the inventory and site narratives.

Document field and site activities using standard operating procedures.

Required Requirements:

B.S. degree with experience in environmental science, ecotoxicology, or related sciences.

Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the field of ecotoxicology, project oversight, contaminate analysis, and safety.

Ability to troubleshoot field collection protocols and develop new procedures to meet evolving project goals.

The successful candidate will demonstrate previous work experience on contaminant investigations in the Matsu Valley region of Alaska.

Is a “qualified environmental professional” for investigating and cleaning up spills of oil and hazardous substances under the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation Site Cleanup Rules (18 AAC 75.325 - 75.390).

Job Specifications:

The candidate contractor will demonstrate they are organized, detail-oriented, able to maintain records, and work both independently and collaboratively with co-workers and partners in office, laboratory, and field settings, follow established protocols to process samples for contaminate analysis, and analyze field and laboratory data.
