POPPY’S FOH SHIFT LEADER JOB DESCRIPTION
Poppy's is a hospitality brand with a mission to create simple, seasonal, beautiful + approachable food. Using the highest quality ingredients + professional service standards, Poppy’s has grown to include a community focused cafe + market, a catering company + an intimate event venue. Poppy’s is a woman-owned business founded in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn.
We are currently hiring full time positions 5 days per week for our location in Cobble Hill.
REQUIREMENTS
NYC Food Handlers Certification or willingness to obtain this within the the first few months of working
Commitment of working 5 days per week
Must have open availability + work weekends
Ability to organize + lead a team of about 8 people
Ability to adapt and switch gears to attend to priorities of the day
Admin work + ordering responsibilities
Great Barista skills + familiar with operating espresso machines
Positive attitude + great sense of urgency
Interest in food + hospitality
Must have high attention to detail
Great time management skills
Team focused + ability to work in a dynamic fast paced work environment
Handles high volume with ease
Must be able + comfortable lifting up to 25lbs
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide excellent customer service
Setting high standards + leading by example
Working alongside GM for leadership mentorship + priority task management
Maintaining cleanliness by Poppy’s + NYC DOH standards
Remaining informed + up-to-date on our brand identity + offerings to act as a great brand ambassador
Guide, support + educate employees to ensure that they’re acting as great brand ambassadors
Training new staff members + developing a strong cohesion of your team to ensure that staff are set up for success + the business always operates at it fullest potential
Motivating staff members + keeping up positive team morale
Maintaining inventory + ordering as necessary
Communicating with the GM + other members of management about retail + food product pars
Checking contents of catering orders + ensuring that they’re picked up in a timely manner
Reporting any customer feedback or issues that arise during the shift to the GM
Navigating employee requests + issues with the assistance of the GM
Working behind the counter + maintaining the retail floor (pastry case, service bar, outside seating area, retail shelves, cold cases)
Maintaining + updating online ordering
Accounting for waste
COMPENSATION + BENEFITS
$17 - $20/hr (depending on experience) Plus Generous Tips
