Shop Assistant

Asphalt Patch Systems is hiring for a Shop Assistant! Under the direct supervision of the Shop Foreman, the Shop Assistant performs routine maintenance activities related to greasing, oiling, lubricating, inspecting, and cleaning company trucks and equipment.

Asphalt Patch Systems has been the premier paving contractor for Pierce, King and Thurston counties since 1981. We are a family-owned business providing services in asphalt, concrete, and saw cutting in both the private and public sectors. Our asphalt services include utility and residential patching, as well as parking lot maintenance and custom driveways. We also provide concrete curbing, sidewalks, patios, driveways, and custom stamping.

Essential Functions:

Performs routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment, such as greasing, oiling, lubricating, and cleaning.

1. Checks oil and fluid levels in vehicles and equipment; replaces or replenishes as indicated.

2. Replaces filters, bulbs, and other routine parts as needed.

3. Identifies need for additional maintenance or repairs on vehicles and equipment; reports to Shop Foreman in a timely fashion.

4. Assists with other routine maintenance of vehicles, equipment, and facility under the supervision of the Shop Foreman.

5. Prepares and maintains appropriate records on vehicles and equipment.

6. Assists Shop Foreman in maintaining an orderly shop.

7. Adheres to all company, state, and federal safety standards.

8. Other duties as assigned.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. The core schedule is Monday through Friday, but hours are dynamic and may change.

Required Education and Experience:

1. Some mechanical experience, either on the job or in the classroom

2. Basic computer skills

Preferred Education and Experience:

1. Current and valid driver’s license (if over the age of 18)

2. Safe driving record (if over the age of 18)

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

1. Must be able to successfully pass pre-employment and random drug tests.

2. Must obtain work schedule approval from parent and school (if under the age of 18)
