The Lead Pastry Cook role is to act as a leader in the pastry kitchen and prepare a variety of desserts, pastries, or other sweet goods. Your skill in baking high quality treats should be matched by your creativity to develop amazing new tastes and recipes. This role should be well-versed in culinary arts with a passion for sweet and delicious creations. They must adhere to health and safety standards to provide clients with the best possible serving. The goal is to enhance customer satisfaction so that we can maintain and expand our clientele.

Job Description:

Facilitate event orders in the absence of the Pastry Chef.

Maintain a keen attention to detail.

Attend and participate in training events with Pastry Chef.

Capable of working in a fast-paced, production environment.

Preparing a wide variety of goods such as cakes, cookies, pies, bread etc. following traditional and modern recipes.

Creating new and exciting desserts and seasonal items to renew our menus and engage the interest of customers.

Creative ability with artistic skill in decorating cakes, pastries and other desserts using different icings, toppings etc. to ensure the presentation will be beautiful and exciting.

Great attention to detail and creativity.

In-depth knowledge of sanitation principles, food preparation and baking techniques and nutrition.

Working knowledge of baking with ingredient limitations (pastries that are gluten free, vegan, sugarless etc.)

Monitor stocks for baking ingredients such as flour, sugar etc. and make appropriate orders within budget.

Check quality of material and condition of equipment and devices used for cooking.

Ensuring their section of the kitchen adheres to safety and health regulations.

Maintain a lean and orderly cooking station.

Operating and managing the pastry section of the kitchen and liaising with the Executive and Sous Chefs to ensure a successful working environment.

Ordering new supplies, ingredients, and equipment for the pastry section, when needed, and within budget.

Organizing and leadership skills.

Supervise, motivate, and train staff members, when needed to work more efficiently.

Identify staffing needs and help recruit and train personnel.

Meeting with customers to discuss details and planning of custom-made desserts and pastries for special occasions, such as weddings

Schedule:

Full-Time 30+ Hours a Week

This is a 24-7, 365 day a year business that will require some work during nights, weekends and holidays. Must have a flexible schedule that can move between shifts and days as needed.

Compensation: $23.00 Hr.

Qualifications:

Has or is willing to obtain a Washington state food handlers card

SERV Safe Manager Card (Optional)

This position requires a minimum formal education of a high school diploma.

A minimum of five years related experience and/or training working within the food industry as a Department Chef, Baker, or relevant role.

Certificate in Culinary Arts, pastry-making, baking, or relevant field (Preferred) OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

Able to demonstrate and maintain consistent and efficient performance.

Able to accomplish projects in a timely manner.
