Job Description: FAM Program & Community Outreach Coordinator
Reports to: FAM Program Director
Compensation: 19 hours a week at $25/hour
The FAM (Farm Apprentice Mentorship) program was created with the vision to empower the next generation of
farmers with the knowledge, skills and abilities to be successful farmers here in
Hawai'i. As the Program & Community Outreach Coordinator, you will support the
growth and awareness of this program and help facilitate the education of future
farmers.
As the FAM Coordinator for the Hawaii Farmers Union United, you will play a vital role in
promoting our educational programs and initiatives through effective social media
strategies. You will be responsible for engaging our community, sharing valuable
content, and driving the mission of HFUU to foster sustainable agriculture in Hawaii.
We are looking for someone who has a background in content production and is highly

Qualified applicants must live on Maui and be present at classes at UHMC Thursday evenings
and Saturday mornings on farms throughout the island from December-June.
Overall responsibilities and tasks:
1. Content Creation:
○ Develop and curate engaging and relevant content for HFUU FAM social media
platforms, including Instagram, Facebook and Mighty Networks as well as paper
media such as brochures and flyers
○ Create visually appealing graphics, videos, and infographics to highlight
educational events, workshops, and success stories.
○ Write compelling captions and posts that align with HFUU FAM's mission and
voice.
2. Social Media Strategy:
○ Collaborate with the HFUU communications team to develop and implement a
HFUU FAM social media strategy that supports educational goals and initiatives.
○ Schedule regular posts to maintain a consistent online presence.
○ Collaborate with students, farm mentors, partners and sponsors to amplify reach
and impact through cross-promotion and collaboration posts for better algorithm
reach.
3. Community Engagement:
○ Engage with HFUU FAM followers by responding to comments, messages, and
inquiries promptly.
○ Foster a sense of community by encouraging discussions, sharing
user-generated content, and recognizing active participants.
4. Coordinate Immersion Program
○ Organize and track all apprentice and mentor documents, meetings and
hours worked
○ Act as a liaison between farmer and apprentice and set initial contact meeting
○ Create folder for immersion documents ; all MOA, W9, immersion applications
and pictures
○ Schedule regular check-ins with FAM program participants to ensure
progress and that goals are met
5. Grant Reporting
○ Assist with grant reporting and proposal writing as appropriate to the
objectives and funding nature of the program
○ Monitor and keep record of all Maui County Chapter events, follow-up with
chapter leadership and add to all quarterly and final reports
6. Recruitment
○ Provide support in implementation of student recruitment process including
marketing strategies, outreach and interviews
7. Classroom Support
○ Assist with facilitating weekly FAM program classes in-person and via video
call (Zoom) and aid instructors when needed
○ Serve as an example in classes, representing excellent conduct, attitude and
respect for instructors and students
Qualifications and Requirements
● Proven experience in social media management, content creation, and digital marketing.
● Strong understanding of social media platforms, tools, and analytics.
● Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
● Creative mindset with an eye for design and visual storytelling.
● Passion for sustainable agriculture, education, and community engagement.
● Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.
● Excellent time-management and organizational skills
