JOB TITLE: Kitchen Manager

REPORTS TO: Meal Center Director and Meal Center Manager

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

DIVISION: Meals on Wheels Meal Center

HOURLY: $24.00- $26.50

SUMMARY:

The Food Service Manager, under the direction of the Meal Center Manager, has managerial responsibility for directing and supervising all Meals on Wheels food service production. They oversee kitchen staff, handle food preparation, production, inventory management, and cleaning duties at the Meals on Wheels Meal Center kitchen.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintains cleanliness and sanitation throughout the Meal Center, including personal hygiene practices to include kitchen staff and uniform compliance.

Supervise, train, and guide kitchen staff effectively to provide high quality meals for our clients including recipe and portion control compliance.

Directs and coordinates production including adjustments of quantities.

Supervises and participates in the preparation and cooking of meals, including on-going training and critiquing.

Collaborates with Meal Center leadership and Dietitian in developing new recipes, meal planning, and organizing menus.

Instructs kitchen staff on safety rules and regulations, sanitary procedures, and proper use of food service equipment and machinery.

Regularly inspects kitchen, preparation areas, storage areas, freezer and walk-in for compliance with sanitation, safety, and health regulations and standards.

Assist Meal Center leadership and Dietitian with In-Service training and maintaining current required certification for all Meal Center staff.

Administer and report Kitchen staff performance evaluations.

Conduct freezer pulls according to Freezer Pull Schedule Charts.

Oversee the pulling of refrigerated and frozen foods for daily production.

Conduct daily temperature checks of equipment, walk-in, and freezer and document in the appropriate logbooks.

Ensure Cooking Temperature Log is completed kitchen staff as required for compliance.

Receive and verify meal program deliveries, ensuring proper handling and storing by kitchen staff.

Inventory maintenance, ordering, and reporting.

Initiates requests for equipment and maintenance repairs.

Scheduling and coordinating kitchen staff shift to meet production needs.

Assist Meal Center leadership with promoting a healthy, safe, and supportive work culture and environment.

Appropriately address kitchen staff conflicts, grievances, and or concerns followed by documentation and reporting.

Undertake other duties and tasks as assigned by Meal Center Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:

At least 5 years of management experience in the food service industry or equivalent combination of education and experience.

At least 5 years of experience and knowledge working with commercial kitchen equipment, including cupping and wrapping machines.

Essential knowledge and abilities to successfully perform the Food Service Manager duties and responsibilities in a professional work environment.

Outstanding leadership and management skills, able to lead by example, guide and inspire a team, ensure safety, and problem solving.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of creating documents and reports effectively.

Working knowledge of computers. Must be proficient in Excel, Microsoft Word, Teams, and SharePoint.

Ability to collaborate with the Meals on Wheels leadership.

Exceptional organizational abilities, capable of handling multiple tasks and team members in a fast-paced environment.

Commitment to completing tasks within specified timeframes with attention to detail.

Familiarity with food service, safety, and sanitation procedures.

Able to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 45-50 pounds.

Available to work 40 hours per week, 8 hours per day shift, Monday through Saturday (Schedule may vary based on production needs).

Certified Professional Food Managers Card required.

REQUIREMENTS:

Possess a valid driver's license and proof of auto insurance and good driving record.

Have a reliable and insured automobile with the capacity to carry the required equipment.

Capability to ascend stairs in the event of elevator unavailability and walk extended distances if a street is obstructed, ensuring timely delivery of clients’ meals.

Standard office environment. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. Physical requirements

include standing, sitting, typing, bending, and lifting to approximately 50 pounds. The

noise level in the work environment is moderate. Must have reliable transportation.
