Role and Scope of Position:Key member of the company’s Transmission organization leading economic analysis to support a new era of multi-value Transmission development, manage stakeholder relations particularly with states, as well as develop new Transmission concepts to improve company’s competitive position and create shareholder value. The position will be a key driver for the company’s future Transmission growth.Essential Functions:Economic Analysis

Utilize expertise in wholesale commodity markets and deep knowledge of market participants to identify energy market trends and infrastructure opportunities

Lead and manage an in-house team of economists and technical experts to evaluate and estimate wholesale market impacts of Transmission investments

In a future that is expected to be largely supported by intermittent resources such as wind and solar, evaluate resource adequacy needs and recommend solutions that align with Eversource business objectives

Support Eversource Climate Scorecard and Zero-by-Thirty Initiative by estimating and reporting electric sector emissions including carbon footprint of line losses on the Eversource system

Collaborate with key internal and stakeholders to develop community, state or regional economic impacts of Transmission investments including economic development, workforce development, emissions, and tax revenue.

Stakeholder Relations

Establish thought leadership on Transmission and Economic matters with key stakeholders across New England including but not limited to ISO NE, State officials, NESCOE, NEPOOL, etc.

Represent Eversource at key New England stakeholder forums including but not limited to NEPOOL Markets Committees, State Integrated Resource Planning groups, etc.

Represent Eversource’s Transmission and Operations interests on evaluations teams supporting State Sponsored RFPs

Enable state partnerships on societal, anticipatory Transmission investments including pursuing funding from national agencies such as DOE

Strategy & Concept Initiation

Develop compelling business models and commercialization strategies to address market challenges and infrastructure opportunities and communicate the supporting logic to senior management

Co-lead (in collaboration with System Planning) initiation of concepts that support growth of the Transmission business

Support bid development including drafting applications for local, regional, or national funding opportunities

Collaborate closely with all members of the Concept Initiation Committee to ensure alignment on timing and substance of concepts and actions needed to maintain competitive position

Support development of Eversource’s Transmission Strategy including periodic refresh of a economic and resource adequacy opportunities

Support the Transmission Business Development and Strategic Planning & Policy teams on the identification and development of other business development opportunities

Coordination of cross-functional support across Eversource on major initiatives

Leading and supporting ad hoc projects as they arise

Significant cross-functional integration often with senior management

Significant interaction with project partners and other third parties and creative problem-solving skills.

Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:Technical Knowledge/Skill:

Requires knowledge of and experience in the wholesale and retail energy markets in New England. Possess deep experience in the development and structuring of commercial agreements. Demonstrate exceptional analytical and leadership skills.

Mature leader comfortable with a high degree of accountability and influence in a diversified business environment. Demonstrate an open, honest communication style and make fact-driven decisions. Results-oriented, decisive, proactive and a change leader within the organization. With both an eye for analytics and the ability to focus on the broader landscape, other specific qualifications include

Strong analytical skills including experience using both qualitative principals and quantitative analysis to drive business development.

Sound business judgment with the ability to take raw analytical findings and present nuanced and seasoned recommendations.

Strong presentation skills and executive presence to work with senior management and executives.

Solid and broad leadership skills that will enable him/her to lead transient teams and to drive these teams toward a product without having organizational authority over team members.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Strong influencing skills to penetrate and work effectively throughout the organization.

Ability to effectively facilitate the execution of large projects including planning and managing complex processes.

Work well across functional teams and have the leadership/influencing skills to leverage resources, create consensus and lead change.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in business or a technical-related discipline or equivalent experience

Graduate degree in business or engineering is highly desirable

Experience :

Minimum of 12 years of experience with public utility regulation

Licenses & Certifications:Working Conditions:

Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required

Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary
