Employment Type:Full timeShift:Day ShiftDescription:Come join the Patient Access team at Mercy Medical Center, part of Trinity Health Of New England!Position PurposeThe Patient Access Representative is responsible for pre-registration, registration and admission functions for the Emergency Department at Mercy Medical Center.What you will do

Performs complete and accurate pre-registrations, registration, and admission functions

Verifies insurance requirements, obtains and understands insurance benefits

Ensures that all entries concerning demographic, financial and advanced directives are accurate. Collects non-covered fees

Ensures that financial protocols and requirements are met while providing caring access to service at Mercy Medical Center

Has a clear understanding and explains hospital policies or regulations concerning valuables, patient’s rights, HIPAA compliance, EMTALA, health care proxy, Notice to Medicare beneficiaries, and hospital mission

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum high school diploma or equivalent, college preferred.

Medical terminology skills

Relevant medical office, hospital / physicians billing or patient registration experience preferred

Excellent customer service, verbal communication and interpersonal skills required

Position Highlights and Benefits

40 hours per week - 1st Shift includes every other weekend shift and weekend differentials apply

Orientation is Mon-Fri the first two weeks
