Project Accountant/Assistant Controller
Description We are searching for a Project Accountant/Assistant Controller in the construction/contractor industry, located in Long Island City, New York. This role involves project accounting, assisting with corporate closings, and communicating effectively with Project Managers. The ideal candidate will be familiar with the construction industry and capable of working independently.Responsibilities: Manage and oversee project accounting and percentage of completion calculations Assist with corporate closings, ensuring accuracy and timeliness Independently handle and resolve customer inquiries and issues Review budgets, monitor spend, and work collaboratively with Project Managers Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer credit records Process customer credit applications with precision and efficiency Conduct account reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and bank reconciliations Record and manage general ledger and journal entries Oversee the month-end close process Continuously seek and suggest better ways of executing tasks and processes. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field Proven experience in a similar role within the construction industry Solid understanding and experience with project accounting and percentage of completion Proficient in account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, and bank reconciliations Familiarity with general ledger and journal entries Experience with month-end close procedures Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines Strong analytical skills and attention to detail Excellent verbal and written communication skills Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel Knowledge of relevant accounting software CPA or CMA certification would be an asset Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
