The Town and Country Club is a private social club founded in 1893. It is the second oldest woman’s club in the nation. During the 1906 earthquake and fire, the clubhouse was destroyed and the members sought new quarters on Union Square. The club moved in to the current clubhouse in 1909 when the building was rebuilt.

JOB DESCRIPTON: DOOR ATTENDANT – FULL-TIME
Summary: A door attendant greets all members and guests at the front door. He/She makes the first and last impression of the club by their warm and welcoming greeting and assistance upon entering and exiting the club. The work is accomplished individually and in conjunction with other personnel. This position is a regular full-time position and is not overtime exempt.
Qualifications:
Must have a service-oriented approach to all facets of the position.
Must genuinely enjoy working with people.
Some experience in customer service in upscale hospitality is preferred but not required.
Ability to effectively communicate in English orally and in writing. Other language proficiency is helpful.
Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
Previous experience in full-service restaurant or catering operation is not required but can be helpful.
Must be able to move tables and chairs as needed. Any larger items would be moved with other staff assisting.
Physical Requirements: Standing and walking for extended periods of time. Reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction. Bending and being able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds. Finger dexterity to manipulate objects with fingers rather than with whole hand(s) or arm(s). Communication skills using the spoken word. Ability to see within normal parameters and hear with normal range. Ability to move about.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Prepares for service. Duties include, but are not limited to: greeting, opening the door/gate, assisting elderly or disabled member/guests, umbrella service, assistance with Uber/Lyft/taxi, cleaning, dusting, stocking supplies, set up and reset of tables and chairs; and performing any other assigned side work or related set-up tasks.
2. Directs members and guests to location of event as needed. Guests may need an escort if possible as they do not know the building well. Attention to guest needs as they arise; and advising supervisors of any guest concerns.
3. Knowledge of club activities. Duties include, but are not limited to knowing service standards, procedures, and service systems of the Club.
4. Cleaning duties. Duties include but are not limited to: keeping lobby and front door neat and tidy at all times.
5. Supports co-workers and management in facilitating the goals and objectives of the Club. Duties include but are not limited to: monthly mailing of statements and bulletins, training sessions, and staff meetings as scheduled by management; providing assistance to other operating departments as needed; and taking on other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.
Schedule and Reporting: Typically, the Door Attendant will work 40 hours per week however during the busy season and based on business demands overtime will be expected. This is generally a Tuesday – Saturday workweek with shifts of 9:00am-5:00pm or 11:00am-7:00pm. It is expressly understood that one is available for all shifts and days of the week unless the General Manager has agreed otherwise in writing. This position reports directly to the Food & Beverage Director and General Manager and indirectly to other management.
Uniform: A door attendant shall provide his/her own white dress shirt, black tie, black socks/hosiery, and black shoes as specified in the Employee Handbook. The Club provides a jacket and pants and/or dress/skirt. Attire and grooming shall always be conservative, professional, and appropriate to the Club’s decorum. Other appearance standards are covered in the Employee Handbook.
Salary: $27.00 per hour
