You will work with a growing local and global team; aiming to support renewable developers, ISO/RTO, transmission developers, government agencies and utilities to expand the transmission system to accommodate the large-scale renewables, new technologies and the evolving grid. The successful candidate is a highly skilled and innovative engineer who leaves a strong positive impression on clients and one who has a vision and insight to drive a team, support work winning and deliver excellence.We currently have significant international experience in power system sector for renewable projects and major transmission interconnectors and are looking to grow that in the Americas in the next three years. Our growth will be achieved from a combination of delivery of technical excellence, development of select intellectual property and key client relationships on gigawatt-scale power developments.Role and Responsibilities: Acting as a technical lead for design studies for generation and load developers. Ensuring solid quality checks of models and results to maintain the highest level of quality services. Developing models of inverter-based resources (IBRs): BESS, PV, wind farm. Conducting power system studies: sub-synchronous resonance studies, TRV, switching and lightning, insulation coordination, TOV, protection coordination, and arc flash studies. Performing NERC compliance verifications for PRC-019, PRC-024, PRC-025, PRC-026, PRC-027. Producing and/or reviewing quality technical reports and presentations for both internal and external clients. Contributing to and organizing industry participation via conferences, speaking engagements, and industrial working group involvement to meet the business development goals of the team. Leading proposal preparation and procuring work, including preparing Arup submission material such as scope, schedule, fees, and terms and conditions. Being responsible and accountable for client relations. Connecting with existing and new clients, maintaining strategic contacts, and representing Arup’s overall capability. Having a vision for effective project delivery, including automation, proprietary tools development, and digital application. Training and mentoring junior-level Power Systems Engineers.Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering; an advanced degree or equivalent experience (Master’s or PhD) is highly preferred. At least 7 years of hands-on experience in delivering power system studies. Familiarity with PSS/E, PSCAD, Power GEM TARA, PROMOD, and ASPEN. Knowledge of PSLF is a plus. Solid knowledge of export system modeling and studies to contribute to the design basis and functional specification of renewable projects. Experience in performing the renewable interconnection support will be a plus. Experience in performance testing MOD-025, MOD-026 and MOD-027 is preferred. Sound industry networks among potential client markets and a significant reputation in a relevant area of expertise. Excellent communication skills, crucial for team-based working. Effective presentation skills with colleagues and clients of all levels. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, as needed, to achieve agreed goals and results.
