Senior Analyst, Tax Controversy
Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent practical experience.
7 years of experience with tax, including tax audit and tax law.
Experience in project management.
Preferred qualifications:
CPA, JD, MBA, or Master's degree in Taxation, or a related field.
8 years of experience in a corporate tax department or similar.
Knowledge of tax law, GAAP, and regulatory requirements (SOX).

You find ways to work smarter by streamlining and automating our tax processes and systems, and find ways to be both innovative and compliant.As a Tax Controversy Senior Analyst, you will provide tax advice and/or assist in executing on strategy for Internal Revenue Service (IRS) tax audit matters. You often work with external parties or vendors to define the right tax policies, workflows, and procedures. You collaborate across the finance organization and across functions, developing deep relationships with both peers and leaders, to ensure alignment and compliance of everyone's work in your immediate area. You possess great depth of knowledge of the tax audit process and Google's policies/procedures and can regularly make recommendations to leadership on how to optimize the work to be more efficient, without sacrificing quality. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Coordinate, and plan for all federal tax audits, maintain working relationships with the IRS exam team and various tax authorities.
Draft, review, and analyze responses to tax notices and audit inquiries, Information Document Requests, and Notices of Proposed Adjustments.
Collaborate and partner with tax, various cross-functional teams, and outside service providers in resolving complex tax positions. Establish policies and procedures for tax position analysis and documentation to minimize tax exposure.
Execute on overall tax controversy issue negotiation and resolution strategy to effectively manage risk.
Identify audit-related ASC 740 (FAS 109/FIN 48) issues and prepare appropriate analysis and documentation for quarterly tax provision support.
