Schwan’s is a place for people with an appetite for more. We are growing and adding a newly created Sr International Logistics Analyst role to focus on the importing side of our business. In this role you will be is responsible for collaborating with Logistics, Fulfillment, Customer Service, Procurement, Finance, 3rd party Customs Brokers, and 3rd party Freight Forwarders and carriers to provide ocean freight, air freight and both international and domestic transportation services to the organization. Maintains compliance with international shipping requirements for all import and export freight.
Classifies all imported and products and raw materials under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule. (HTS)
Manages and approves all documentation from vendors, carriers, and governments agencies, and provides to all necessary parties.
Coordinates sailing schedules based on production and demand timing, communicates, and manages exceptions to original plan.
Maintains compliance with rules and regulations of the DOT, the International Air Transport Organization, and International Maritime Organization and U.S. Customs.
Provides real-time order status to all applicable parties.
Provides periodic audits to ensure compliance of U.S. regulatory requirements and internal SOPs are being adhered to.
Leverages industry and departmental knowledge in cross-functional teams and project-based activities as assigned.
Maintain shipper of choice-based relationships with brokers, forwarders, carriers and vendors.
Analyses international freight charges and business costs and optimizes costs with shipping partners.
Qualifications:
A minimum of 5+ years’ experience in a role involving logistics, supply chain or business-related role.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and experience in a logistics, supply chain or project management related role is preferred
International importing experience ideally with refrigerated containers
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Experience in the transportation industry and international operation
Basic understanding of data and structure for Warehouse Management System (WMS), IBM, and SAP.
Strong problem-solving abilities in technical applications and in business processes where there is no existing or only limited standardization.
Ability to analyze data and make recommendations based on the findings.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals, as well as present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers. General understanding of supply chain principles.
Strong MS Office Suite knowledge
