Job InformationOpen to the general public and any current Municipal employee.This position is represented by the Anchorage Municipal Employees Association (AMEA) and is subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the AMEA. DEPARTMENT: FinanceHOURS OF WORK: Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.LOCATION OF WORK: 632 W. 6th AvenueExample of DutiesUnder guidance of the Administrative Department Supervisor, provide support to Property Appraisal staff in all aspects of the Administrative Department. Is responsible for providing counter, telephone and electronic communication to property owners; processing of real property conveyance documents; receiving, processing and tracking appeals; receiving and electronically processing all real property exemption applications.This multifaceted position serves as first point of contact to respond to complex inquiries and customer escalations. Work on special projects such as the analyzing exemptions. Provides specialized guidance and instruction to the Administrative Representatives II, and III on procedural and business practices. Assesses training needs and assists Management with thedevelopment of training materials. Participates in the delivery of formal training and ongoing mentor ship of Property Appraisal staff. Recommends process improvements and provides input related to departmental policies and procedures.Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / PreferencesBachelor's degree in Economics, Public Administration, Business Administration, Planning, or a related discipline, and two (2) years of experience in the appraisal of property as an Appraiser with the Municipality of Anchorage or experience related to the appraisal of real and/or personal property in accounting, banking, business management, or experience in a private appraisal office or governmental agency involved in the appraisal of real and/or personal property.ORAssociate's degree in Economics, Public Administration, Business Administration, Planning, or a related discipline, and four (4) years of experience in the appraisal of property as an Appraiser with the Municipality of Anchorage or experience related to the appraisal of real and/or personal property in accounting, banking, business management, or experience in a private appraisal office or governmental agency involved in the appraisal of real and/or personal property.ORHigh school diploma, GED, or equivalent and six (6) years of experience in the appraisal of property as an Appraiser with the Municipality of Anchorage or experience related to the appraisal of real and/or personal property in accounting, banking, business management, or experience in a private appraisal office or governmental agency involved in the appraisal of real and/or personal property.All applicants must possess and/or complete:

Valid State of Alaska driver's license with satisfactory driving record at time of hire.
