UW-IT partners with the UW community to enable innovation, learning, discovery, and service.We are looking for a highly motivated Workday Systems Architect Lead to help us meet our goals of Workday adoption, operational excellence, and constantly improving user experience. Come build the future of UW’s administrative systems with us!The Workday Systems Architect Lead will:

Work across Workday functional areas and with partner organizations to directly support the design and development of Workday HCM, Financials, and any additional Workday functionality.

Work collaboratively with the functional area technical teams, leading and advising in establishing design best practices that reduce technical debt, simplify system support and maintenance, and improve overall system performance.

Maintain robust standards for Workday core architecture design including naming conventions, performance standards, data grouping strategies, as well as custom organization, object, and individual application design.

Research, design, and deliver system changes in alignment with UW Workday user experience best practices and streamlined data flows in response to emerging Workday technologies, customer requests, and mandated operational changes to HR, Payroll, Finance, or other operations. Examples of this include solutions that enable business units to manage changes to their supervisory organization structure, make unit-specific changes to the FDM, and manage and delegate certain of their own security roles.

Leverage their understanding of enterprise solutions to contribute to broad organizational goals by informing the university’s approach to digital transformation, operational efficiency, and student outcomes.Position Complexities:

This position requires the Workday Systems Architect Lead to maintain a broad knowledge of the UW’s Workday implementation, including HCM and Financials, as well as how it fits into the larger enterprise technology ecosystems. This position will bring comprehensive technical systems knowledge together to:

Evaluate change requests to design and advise on the most efficient enterprise solutions to meet complex and sometimes conflicting customer business requirements.

Influence change across the university by building stakeholder engagement, managing competing priorities, and aligning technical and business teams around a unified architectural vision for Workday.

Communicate about technology and process solutions with Workday, broader UW-IT teams, and non-technical business partners in language that everyone can understand.

Play a key role in assessing emerging Workday technologies and planning for incorporation into the Workday Product Roadmap.REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Informatics, Mathematics, Information Science, Business Administration, or a related field, or experience.

Five years of experience performing progressively more complex and responsible tasks involving ERP system development and support of enterprise applications and services.

Demonstrated expert level experience with Workday ERP, including design and configuration.

Customer service experience working effectively with a team to provide solutions to multiple, diverse stakeholders in a complex environment.

Programming experience building custom applications, data integrations, or scripting.

Demonstrated data analysis experience.

Experience fostering a culture of diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

Ability to work in teams an individually.

Ability to build relationships and work effectively with management, end-users, and IT team members.

Demonstrated ability to explain complex technical topics clearly and simply to audiences with a range of technical abilities and experience.

Experience with business process modeling and diagramming complex system architectures.

Demonstrated history of delivering technology solutiosn within agreed upon timeframes.

Experience leading Workday or large-scale ERP teams involving many cross-functional teams

Experience with the full software development lifecycle.

Demonstrated excellent and effective written and oral communicatxion skills, technical documentation skills, user-liaison skills and personal interaction abilities. DESIRED:

Workday certification.

Deep knowledge of Workday HCM, Finance, and Security.

Experience leading, managing, and coaching staff in a position related to business application and systems support.

Record of strong analytical skills being practically applied.

Personal philosophy of continuous process improvement.

Experience with data governance and data quality assurance.

Proactive; anticipates problems and seeks solutions.

Previous Workday experience in highly complex environments.

Workday Pro-Certified in any area.

Familiarity with digital accessibility standards.

Past work experience in higher education. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Hybrid, Must be available to work on-site at the University of Washington Seattle campus at least two days every week.Open office environment.This is an essential position and is required to work remotely when UW suspends operations.
