Farm Manager Wanted - Thoroughbred Breeding Farm, near Freehold, NJ

Position Overview:

We are a small thoroughbred + sport horse breeding farm (20-28 horses) + chickens and a small herd of brush clearing goats.

We are in immediate need of a full time, experienced and passionate Farm Manager to oversee daily operations. A strong background in equine management and a deep commitment to the health, safety and welfare of horses is essential. We may also consider temporary or part time help.

Key Responsibilities:

Daily Care and feeding: Grain, hay, water all animals

Horse Management and Training: Turn horses in and out as needed (The horses are outside

24/7 if the weather is good). Prep young horses for registration and sales, tack up older horses

on occasion. Opportunity to ride based upon skill set, if desired.

Barn/Stall/Paddock Maintenance: Keep barn tidy, Mucking and repairs as needed. Manage

inventory - feed, supplies and equipment, ensuring proper storage. Oversee the upkeep of

paddocks, ensuring safe and secure environments for horses. Fix fencing as necessary and

monitor for fallen branches/tree maintenance.

Equine Health: Monitor horses for signs of illness or injury, administer first aid when necessary,

and coordinate with farm owner/veterinarians for routine care and emergencies.

Night Checks: Conduct night checks as needed, especially filling in during spring foaling months.

Ideal Person will have:

Experience in equine management, particularly in thoroughbred breeding or training settings.

Must love and connect well to horses.

Strong knowledge of equine health, nutrition, and first aid.

Ability to be proactive and prevent problems before they arise.

Excellent communication skills

Physical stamina and ability to routinely lift 50 or more pounds (including grain bags, hay bales,

etc.), perform hands-on tasks, manual labor and operation of tractors, chains saws and paddock

cleaning equipment.

Flexibility to work varying hours as needed

Proof of US Citizenship or Valid US work permit required.
