Fabrication Shop Foreman
Well established steel fabrication shop is looking for a Foreman/Supervisor. Individual will oversee production personnel and multiple processes including, welding, coatings, safety, productivity, quality, personnel allocation and shop cleanliness. Will need fabrication shop experience with welding, fabrication, machine operation, blueprint reading, overhead cranes, and a general knowledge of mechanical systems. The successful candidate will be motivated, organized, and work well under time constraints to support the goals and direction of new leadership. The Fabrication Shop Foreman duties and tasks:
This position will supervise welder/fabricators with varying levels of expertise in their field.
Planning and initiating fabrication processes. Have ability to read and comprehend drawings & calculations and assign work accordingly.
Ability to manage multiple projects with varying scopes of work.
Oversee maintenance and repair of all shop equipment and tools.
Knowledgeable of applicable processes and standards covering welding, design, and fabrication.
Interface with Mechanical Engineers and Designers on fabrication methods and processes.
Maintain and adhere to operational procedures and work instructions, follow work orders, and assist with preparation of reports and appropriate documentation to include following test procedures and recording results.
Possess proven problem-solving skills and can manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
Will be expected to lead an experienced team, provide guidance and assistance to employees.
OSHA, Confined Space experience preferred.
Forklift operation to help transport material to various departments and load products for shipment.
Ability to operate other equipment, such as cranes, forming rolls, CNC plasma cutter, shear, press brake, etc. as required to support crew.
Communicate with other leaders to coordinate priorities and schedules.
Qualifications:
Requires experience and job knowledge of welding and procedures obtained through prior work experience or education.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a supervisory capacity.
Minimum of 15 years of shop experience with a focus on welded steel fabrication.
Shielded Metal Arc Welding and Flux-cored Arc Welding experience preferred. Welder certifications are a plus.
Physical abilities include the use of arms, hands and fingers to operate tools and various equipment. Standing, walking, moving, climbing, bending, crawling, reaching and handling, pushing and pulling. Comfortable working in confined spaces and at heights
