Hello Long Beach!We are a small but successful brand in the alternative spirituality industry located near Bixby Knolls (Long Beach). We have been in business for 15 years, creating and shipping our own products such as scented baths, oils, powders, washes, colognes, books, candles, and more. Beyond products, we also offer services that are focused on enacting change in a person’s life and circumstances through life coaching and consultations provided by a team of life coaches with specific abilities and skillsets.

Our products and services are offered to the general public through our website only; we do not receive customers at our place of business so there is no face-to-face customer engagement. We are not a retail location but an online store and make our products in small batches by hand, packing and shipping them 5 days a week, Monday through Friday. We are looking to work with someone who lives in or in the immediate vicinity of LONG BEACH on a part-time to full-time basis, 5 days a week depending on our business needs. Core job duties require:

A STRONG imagination and creative writing ability and grammar in English. Many of ourhighly customized reports about custom services require us to describe the status of those services in a manner that is both interesting and in a way that is not repetitive (or appearing "copied and pasted"). Reports require descriptions of imagery such as symbols, shapes, animals, plants, people, figures and more that relate to the customers' service.

A STRONG dexterity and ability to use hands unencumbered as day-to-day tasks require small bags be filled with products, sealed to avoid spillage during transit, labeling of products, boxing and shipment.

A GOOD ability and comfort around a computer (either windows or mac) and apps such as Google docs, Google drive and other Google apps such as Gmail as they are used daily.

A STRONG ability to work independently without constant pressure to keep on task.

A good organizational mindset to keep our processes moving, requiring tracking of certain products to know where a service is at in the process.

Demonstrate above-average English grammar and spelling and absolutely know how to use grammar/spell checking tools since the primary duty of this will be to read and interpret candles which is akin to tea reading or scrying.

Demonstrate basic computer skills and be very comfortable already with technology like word processing, Google Docs, Gmail, shipping software, and others.

Must be teachable and willing to follow instructions while remaining open-minded, and as far from 'conservative' ideals as possible to be a match!

Be able to lift up to 35lbs, often and multiple times a day without assistance or impairments to help with deliveries of supplies needing to be received weekly.

Be able to stand or sit for long periods of time without issue.

Show up to work, on time, ready, and willing to work efficiently with an understanding that your presence is needed to keep a well-oiled machine moving.

Be able to accomplish tasks that require manual dexterity.

Be able to type at least 45 words per minute.

Communicate effectively.

Have a strong and efficient work ethic while being eager to learn and grow.

Attention to small processes and details with little instruction and supervision.

Have a very open mind to what our customers need and the products/services you will help us provide.

Maintain strict confidentiality of our client’s information.

Ideal candidates would possess some mix of the following qualities:

Good understanding of Technologies such as Google Drive, Gmail, Basic web browsing

Possess an intuitive imagination with strong writing skills and an ability to use that intuition to read customer petitions and respond to them with a highly tailored response.

A background in alternative spirituality is highly desirable (not necessarily religious being required)

An appreciation for Herbalism, holistic and spiritual medicine, and a desire to learn how we use them to enact change in the world from a spiritual point of view.

Has reliable transportation, is responsible, and punctual with good time management

Is comfortable working in close quarters with a small team.

Responsibilities for a typical workday:

The primary focus of this job will be responding to customer petitions by writing reports from a template that is a simple paragraph, customized to each customer's petition.

Printing order(s) from our store to be sorted, filled, packaged, and shipped.

Noting which items are low stock and notifying management while maintaining inventory by compounding/creating products from recipes.

Keeping the workspaces clean and comfortable for others.

Performing services at our location for customers including labeling, dressing, blessing, and lighting candles.

Returning to previously lit candles, cataloging them, and then reporting back to the customer with information via the reports mentioned above.

Assisting with loading/unloading candles and supply deliveries once a week.

This job will require periods of standing, sitting, and lifting of inventory both frequently and infrequently.

Secondary responsibilities:

Creating customized items to be sent to customers

Ensuring discarded candle jars are recycled and trash to the street once a week, and brought back in from the street the next day.

Collaborating with others to keep shop operations smooth.

Compounding and packaging products to be sent to customers

Shipping products

This job is quite easy, but attention to detail is important. This includes ensuring proper ordered quantities go out with each sale, data entry for customers is correct, double-checking that packages, mailing addresses, and labels are correct. We realize this is a job in a spiritual industry that may attract a lot of "bohemian, les a faire" types but we are a legitimate business and expect a baseline of professionalism with trust, respect, and communication.
