The base pay actually offered may vary based upon the candidate's skills and experience, job-related knowledge, geographic location, and other specific business and organizational needs.As a candidate, you are encouraged to ask compensation related questions and have an open dialogue with your recruiter who can provide you more specific details for this role.Line of Business:Technology SolutionsJob Description:The director of an Open-Source Project Office (OSPO) is responsible for creation and execution of an enterprise-wide Open-Source strategy with metrics for tracking objectives. The OSPO drives what is needed for their company and its interactions with Open-Source communities, taking ideas and collaborations from the larger Open-Source Ecosystems. The OSPO is responsible for creating, collecting, and maintaining Open-Source educational materials, and ensuring that potential Open-Source contributors have read the education materials before they are cleared to contribute to an Open-Source project.The OSPO works with legal to check the Open-Source licenses to ensure that Open-Source is consumed and contributed to by company staff in a manner compliant with said licenses and internal Intellectual Property guidelines. The OSPO director or their staff will maintain the list of contributors that have signed the Individual and/or Corporate License Agreements (CLA) associated with the strategic Open-Source projects. The OSPO should have a dedicated budget to have Open-Source contributors on staff that can help educate and train employees across the enterprise on how to effectively contribute to Open-Source projects and establish eminence. In some cases, the same resources can be the first contributors for the company to strategic Open-Source projects to create a foot hold and establish influence and freedom of action in the Open-Source projects.Core Activities:

Set up a review board to serve as a clearinghouse for all Open-Source activities, including license compliance and Intellectual Property reviews.

Define policies on permissible levels of contribution (e.g., bug fixes and doc enhancements that should be okay without review, large contributions that should require clearance).

Create an inventory of all software that is used and work with legal to ensure only Open-Source projects with acceptable licenses are consumed or contributed to.

Where inner source is adopted, the OSPO sets up the mechanisms for driving and managing inner source activities.

Organizations in the Enterprise:

Identify the strategic objectives for why the organizations want to contribute to or consume Open-Source

Work across the business units, key partners, and legal to align on the Open-Source strategy and objectives.

Drive the Innersource initiatives to create and support the infrastructure required to be successful.

Community and Skills:

Lead efforts to encourage enterprise developers to contribute to Open-Source. (e.g., Open-Source award programs)

Lead Open-Source training boot camps and organize mentoring programs.

Depth & Scope:

Provides people management leadership by hiring the best talent, setting goals, developing staff, managing employee performance and compensation decisions, promoting teamwork and handling any/all disciplinary actions, as required

Recognized as a top expert in their field whose focus is on the coaching and training of practice leads and/or high level senior practitioners

People leader with expert knowledge of disciplines and practices in field of expertise

Advanced and highly specialized knowledge of specific domain or broad range of TD frameworks, technology, tools, best practices, processes and procedures, as well as broader organization issues

Proven ability in soft skills people management of large teams

Provides guidance on the work of practitioners as related to the quality of product(s)/work being produced, delivered & speed of delivery / to market

Ability to develop colleagues to be masters of their craft in the market around us

Quickly adapts to customer, stakeholder and regulatory needs in collaboration with Platform and Journey teams

Experienced in the continuous assessment of Practice Leads/ SE Practitioners and their craft to ensure enterprise practice standards are upheld

Facilitates and Fosters Practice Community of Interest and use of this practice across the Technology organization

Contributes to the development of coaching strategies for individuals within their area of expertise

Provides leadership and guidance to several teams and solves cross-department issues

Participates in the development of business and practice strategies

Expert collaborator and is known for bringing diverse teams together to achieve a common goal

Education & Experience:

University or Graduate / post graduate degree in Computer Science or related Engineering discipline; or equivalent practical experience

10-15+ years of relevant experience in field of specialization (pending job level review)
