Small medical device company near the OC Airport is seeking a motivated part-time Accountant/Bookkeeper. We estimate that work will be around 15-20 hours per week, but during training it could be more.

The candidate’s responsibilities include the accurate and timely preparation and analyses of all facets of the financial operations of the company, accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory, and all other fiscally related duties as deemed appropriate. The candidate’s responsibilities will include payroll related accounting and functions and may perform other administrative duties as required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for all aspects of accounting (accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, general ledger entries, bank reconciliation, credit card expense report reconciliation, cash applications, collections, payroll, and tax filings).

Responsible for delivering timely and accurate financial processing, cash management, and balance sheet reconciliations.

Maintain professional banking relationships with the CFO.

Process new customer credit references and assign credit limits and terms with the CFO.

Review payroll and payroll taxes and ensure timely payment of payroll and corporate taxes by payroll service.

Prepare (or manage the preparation of) State Sales & Use Taxes: quarterly; semi-annually; or annually as necessary.

Maintain files and comply with record retention requirements. Process payroll using a payroll service (ADP).

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles. Strong leadership, management, and organizational skills.

MUST know Excel and hopefully, will know Sage Software. Experience with Accounting software required.

Possess well-developed interpersonal and communication, verbal, and written skills.

Must be result and profit oriented with the ability to balance other business considerations and perform multifaceted projects.

Must be highly motivated and can function independently and multi-task. Must be detail oriented.

Expert computer skills – Strong Microsoft Excel and Outlook. Sage 100 accounting software experience a plus.

MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of an associate’s degree in accounting, combined with 2+ years’ experience in Accounting/Finance;

2-3 years relevant (progressive) experience in a manufacturing/service organization, preferably in a medical device environment with exposure to service contracts with deferred revenue.

Payroll Processing experience. Multi-State compliance experience (Sales Tax, Prop Tax, business licenses etc.) desired, not required. Strong Excel skills (Pivot tables, H/V Lookup, data sort/filter) needed.

Experience Monthly reconciliations (close process):

Bank Accounts, AR / AP, Inventory, Fixed Assets, Payroll and Insurance, Other Accrued liabilities, Deferred Revenue

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Database analysis experience (ability to work with and analyze large amounts of data in Excel or within an ERP) Project Accounting experience

AR Collection experience

AP and Cash Management experience ERP experience (Sage 100)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $35-50 per hour, prorated to hours worked. 25-30 hours initially, then approximately 20 per week expected.
