The comforts and connections of a major metropolitan city meet the resources and expertise of a world-class research institution at UW-Milwaukee.Job Summary Manager of Events and Recreation Programs’ primary responsibilities are to support, plan, and implement campus traditions and student-led programming initiatives and provide direct leadership in operations, program development, supervision, financial management, and administration for the Union Studio Arts and Craft Centre and indirect supervision of the Union Recreation Center and Esports Lab.The incumbent in this position will lead and/or provide substantial support for student engagement/involvement initiatives and activities across campus including Geek Week, Fall Welcome, Winter Welcome, the Distinguished Lecture Series, athletic events, celebrations, award ceremonies, cultural events, student organization fairs, university recruitment events, and other unit activities. Additional responsibilities include support and facilitation of leadership programs, membership on the staff coaching program core planning team, and management of data collection and analysis.Minimum Qualifications Qualified candidates will possess the following:
Masters degree required (higher ed, counseling, student affairs, educational leadership, non profit management, art history, MFA , or related field)
Two or more years experience working in student involvement, activities, student life, leadership, programming, Greek life, academic advising, first year experience ( FYE ), residence life, or related area at a post-secondary education institution
Preferred Qualifications
Well-qualified candidates will possess the following:
Demonstrated capacity to supervise graduate student or professional level staff.
Demonstrated experience planning and implementing events and activities
Demonstrated experience advising student organizations and/or working with student planning committees
Demonstrated experience managing a budget, completing organizational bookkeeping, and negotiating and processing contracts
Experience in arts education programming, makerspace management, or arts-related event planning.
Target Salary Range $53,000 - $59,000
