Job Title: Product Development TechnicianJob DescriptionSupport the research and development team in creating and launching new food products, as well as maintaining and reformulating existing food products. Work closely with supervisors and Level 2 technicians on benchtop sample preparation to aid in product development. Additionally, you will assist with plant trials, ingredient and label verification, and sensory evaluations to ensure consistent quality and food safety.Responsibilities

Assist in the development and reformulation of new and existing food products.

Collaborate with supervisors and technicians on benchtop sample preparation.

Qualify new suppliers through formulation and organoleptic evaluation.

Assist with plant trials and verification of ingredients and labels.

Perform internal sensory evaluations for new products, ingredients, and packaging.

Conduct shelf life evaluations of ingredients and finished goods.

Develop and distribute product specifications across manufacturing facilities.

Record research and development activities including formulas, procedures, requirements, data, and notes.

Support procurement in the qualification of secondary suppliers and ingredients.

Maintain ingredient records.

Record weekly project status and review with supervisor.

Assist with ingredient sourcing and auditing for new suppliers.

Essential Skills

Experience in research and development, product development, and food science.

Proficiency in bench testing and food manufacturing.

Knowledge of FDA and USDA regulations.

Bachelor of Science in culinary food science, or a related field.

1+ years of experience in food manufacturing or product development.

Experience in scaling from benchtop samples to commercialization.

Work EnvironmentWork primarily in a lab setting with occasional office work. The lab is equipped with state-of-the-art technology. Some tasks will be performed in cold environments, sometimes around 32 degrees for extended periods.
