MSK is seeking an innovative, strategic leader to steer the Office of Research and Project Administration (ORPA), a critical function responsible for the administration of all sponsored proje cts. This position plays a key role in overseeing grants, contracts, and the financial stewardship of both externally and internally funded research, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and fostering collaboration across MSK’s research community. As Vice President, you will play a key role in shaping the vision of research administration at MSK, overseeing grants, contracts, financial stewardship, and regulatory compliance while fostering collaboration and excellence across our research community. Role Overview: Leadership and Strategic Oversight:
Advance MSK’s ambitious research mission by providing strategic direction and leadership for ORPA, while maintaining alignment with departmental goals.
Cultivate a culture of collaboration, innovation, efficiency, and excellence within the office and across research units.
Sponsored Projects Administration (Grants & Contracts) :
Lead all aspects of the administration of grants and contracts, ensuring compliance with funding agency regulations and institutional policies.
Coordinate activities related to proposal development, submission, and post-award non-financial management.
Oversee & manage the central sponsored programs pre-award office , managing pre-award activities for both MSK's hospital and research institute enterprise.
Research Financial Management:
Lead the budgeting, financial management , and fiscal oversight of externally and internally funded research.
Ensure accurate allocation and utilization of resources, maintaining compliance with financial regulations.
Act as a transformational financial steward to support cost containment and sustainability.
Research Administration Operations:
Implement and enhance administrative processes to support all pre-award and post-award activities within ORPA.
Manage data and reporting for the research enterprise.
Compliance and Risk Management:
Monitor new regulations related to Sponsored project administration and support compliance efforts across ORPA.
Identify and manage potential risks in alignment with institutional policies and federal regulations.
Collaborate with other departments to strengthen support for the research community.
Monitoring and Outreach:
Develop and manage policies and procedures for effective monitoring and compliance of sponsored projects.
Engage with researchers, providing mentorship, training, and support in navigating the funding landscape.
Continuously review and oversee activities to identify and address emerging issues.
Building Relationships with Collaborators:
Serve as the primary point of contact between ORPA and a range of internal and external collaborators, including faculty, funding agencies, and regulatory bodies.
Team Management and Development:
Supervise and mentor a team of professionals, fostering an environment that encourages innovation and collaboration.
Model and support a diverse and inclusive work environment that prioritizes professional growth and excellence.
Key Qualifications:
10+ years of progressive research administration experience, including grants and contracts, pre- award, and post-award management, in an academic, medical center, or university environment.
St rong understanding of sponsored project regulations , including federal, state, and institutional guidelines, and experience ensuring compliance with those standards.
