Hawaii Technology Academy (HTA), a public charter school, is looking for a Staff Accountant (AP) candidate to join the accounting team in the Business Office adjacent to our Waipahu Campus. The Staff Accountant is responsible for processing vendor invoices, reimbursements, filing, and reporting promptly, ensuring HTA meets all local, state, and federal regulations. The Staff Accountant also provides direct service related to HTA staff by phone and email. TheStaff Accountant reports to the Finance Manager and works collaboratively with the accounting team, admin HTA staff, vendors, bank, contractors, board members etc.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

- Process Bill invoices for payments through HonuHub System (HTA Charter School System) and QuickBooks.

- Process staff and board members reimbursements through HonuHub System and QuickBooks.

- Process checks, credit card requests and bills requests through HonuHub System and QuickBooks.

- Reconcile HTA banks monthly.

- Reconcile American Express credit cards monthly.

- Process insurance request to Charter Commission for various events.

- Maintain Depreciation and Amortization table and post it to QuickBooks under supervision.

- Assist with gathering documents for federal funding requests under supervision.

- Process and transfer funds from the money market to our operating account when needed.

- Process and transfer funds from Friends of HTA to HTA when needed. Assist with processing payments for FOHTA expenses.

- Prepare AR invoices and PO when needed (very minimum). Post check donations in QuickBooks.

- Assist with gathering documents for Federal and State Audit.

- Process contractor payments in HonuHub and QuickBooks, request W-9 form and post it in QB when needed.

- Maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive and privileged information.

- Scan when needed and save contracts and invoices in the Accounts Payable folder.

- Prepare, posts, verifies and records grant funds, fundraising, donations, club monies, customer payments and transactions related to accounts receivable.

- Maintains and updates customer/vendor files, including name or address changes.

- Approve Grant form and adding them to QuickBooks System

- Order Supplies for the Business Office through Amazon

- Check email address regularly.

- Save Hawaiian Airlines invoices to the main campus office manager in AMEX folder.

- Manage outgoing and incoming emails.

- Save check images, when needed.

- Prepare and file 1099 forms during January every year.

Ideal candidates must be:

- Experienced serving as an accountant (public, charter, or private School preferred but not mandatory; min two years of experience in accounting).

- Education: Associate degree or Bachelor in Accounting, MBA is a plus

- Exceptional in written, verbal, technology, and organizational skills.

- A solutions-oriented problem solver, able to analyze and interpret information.

- Extremely detail-oriented, self-motivated, and collaborative.

- A team player, but also able to work independently with little direction.

- Able to stay organized, work efficiently, and multi-task in an office environment.

- Strong in their computer skills and proficient in Excel, QuickBooks, Google Docs, Google Apps, and online meeting software.

- Able to create and maintain spreadsheets and compile data.

- Proficient in office skills such as typing, faxing, scanning, and filing.

- Able to work and communicate effectively with vendors, and staff.

- Willing to research and become knowledgeable of applicable laws, codes, regulations, policies, and procedures.

- Able to retrieve work materials from overhead, waist, and ground-level files.

This is a full-time salaried 12-month State of Hawaii (Charter School) position beginning on or before July 1, 2023. Salary commensurate with experience and correlated with the appropriate HGEA salary schedule and bargaining unit, but the annual salary is in the range of $60-70,000. This position is in our business office in Waipahu Filipino Community Center on Oahu Island and requires state and federal background and TB clearance.
