Diesel Mechanic - Heavy Equipment Fleet Maintenance
Dump trucking fleet in Santa Rosa, Sonoma County seeks an experienced Diesel Mechanic to maintain 25 truck fleet.
IDEAL CANDIDATE:
- Takes direction well and also self directed with good communication, team player
- Experience as a diesel mechanic is required
- Experienced at BITS, truck PMs, CARB compliance, diagnostic skills, troubleshooting, problem solving
- R.O. budgeting and tracking, data recording, purchasing and vetting vendors
- Welding and fabrication a plus
- Electrical a plus
Schedule is Sun-Thu 12-9pm
Starting pay rate DOE. Hourly plus OT. Full time year round.

Job Description: Lead Diesel Mechanic and Dump Truck Fleet Maintenance Manager
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Accurately and legibly data enter work orders including parts & labor
- Ensure that data for each vehicle reflects time spent and parts used daily
Responsible for BIT inspections and tracking for fleet
- Responsible for BIT inspection requirements
- Perform BIT inspections and document compliance
Responsible for fleet preventative maintenance
Responsible for all Clean Fleet maintenance requirements and tracking
Create project plan on daily and weekly basis
- Team with Owners and Dispatch, keeping them informed of all maintenance and repair that may affect dispatch; they will help decide priorities per customer needs if immediate resolution is not possible.
- Review driver write-ups pro-actively as they arrive daily
If you’re not sure what the driver means, ask them
Prioritize write-ups based on safety, keeping the vehicle in good working order for daily dispatch, and comfortable for drivers
Perform troubleshooting, problem solving, services and repairs
Follow up - communicate with shop assistant in fleet maintenance department to ensure services, repairs, and preventative maintenance are performed and documented
Assign tasks to shop assistant within their ability, teach when appropriate, supervise always, and follow up – you are responsible for checking their work
Road calls
- If breakdowns occur, get the truck back to work asap
When heavy repair needs occur, discuss with Dispatch and Owners to plan the best use of skill sets and time for the maintenance department as well as company income/expenses.
Maintain, troubleshoot, remove, install and professionally clean DPF filters as needed
Any other tasks as needed
