Description Summary Performs a variety of routine tasks in the main kitchen, tray line, dishwashing area and cafeteria according to standard practices and procedures. Complies with regulatory requirements.JOB QUALIFICATIONSEducation: 9th grade education preferred. Serves as assigned to assure the timely and efficient service of meals to patients, guests, and employees at Vassar Brothers Hospital.
Serves as assigned on the cafeteria steam table to ensure the timely and effective service of meals to employees and visitors of Vassar Brothers Hospital.
Delivers and retrieves meal trays for patients at their bedside, special functions orders and patient nourishments as assigned to meet the needs of efficient ad optimum patient care.
Scrapes dirty patient trays to ensure that they are adequately prepared for washing.
Washes dishes, pots and utensils to ensure proper sanitation in preparation for meal production and service.
Handles and distributes properly, all clean wares at the end of washing/sanitizing cycle.
Prepares and processes salads and other cold items for service to patients, guests and employees or special function events.
Prepares and processes desserts, nourishments, and tube feedings for service to patients. Prepares and processes desserts for service in cafeteria.
Maintains the kitchen areas free of debris and ensures proper sanitary conditions throughout the facility.
Promotes a safe and efficient working environment by adhering to hospital and department policies and procedures.
Guest Relations Demonstrates regard for the dignity and respect of all patients, family members, visitors and hospital personnel as defined in the philosophy of Vassar Brothers Hospital.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL FACTORSPhysical: Requires light physical effort on a regular basis, as in frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping or reaching and/or occasional lifting of light items (i.e. up to 20 lbs.).
