Your Role.
The Bear Creek School is currently seeking to add a member to our team! The Upper School Literacy and Innovation Lead plays a pivotal role in driving innovation within the Andrea Lairson Library (Upper School). This position not only manages the library but also serves as the Upper School faculty innovation coach, collaborating with faculty to foster a culture of lifelong reading enjoyment among students. Additionally, the role supports the teaching of information literacy skills, ensuring students are equipped with essential knowledge for the future.

We are seeking an individual who will…
Serves as the innovation coach for Upper School faculty, assisting teachers in implementing innovative teaching practices
Executes library vision and strategies for literacy and innovative pedagogy and collaborates with leadership on modifications to this plan
In collaboration with teachers, designs information literacy instruction
Works with other Literacy Leads on school-wide innovation initiatives
Oversees the library assistants to maintain the library collection, including reviewing, ordering, cataloging, processing new materials, weeding out and repairing books
Oversees library assistants to help carry out day-to-day operations
Oversees maintenance of electronic resources, databases, catalogs, and other library tools
Works with teachers and students to implement innovative presentation tools
Supports the instruction of research and information/media skills
Schedules events that encourage students to enjoy both reading and research, such as author visits, book fairs, maker sessions, student advisory panels and student blog/vlog/news club
Oversees laptop distribution and provide digital citizenship training
Performs other related duties as assigned

Required Experience and Education.
Possess Library Media teaching endorsement and/or a Masters of Library (and Information) Science preferred
Teaching experience preferred
Have a vision for integrating information literacy and technology throughout the school curriculum
Currently held CPR/AED/First Aid Certification (with Epinephrine Auto Injector supplement included), or arrangements made to obtain certification within 90 days of employment start date
