Responsibilities of a low voltage tech; Install and maintain low voltage systems, including CCTV and fire alarms, ensuring compliance with industry standards. Utilize hand tools and power tools for cabling and electrical tasks. Read and interpret schematics to troubleshoot and repair security systems. Provide field service support and assist in system design and installation. Maintain accurate records of service calls and installations, and communicate effectively with team members. Ensure all work adheres to safety regulations and obtain necessary permits.

Key responsibilities of a Low Voltage apprentice consist of: Pulling and routing various types of low voltage cables through walls, ceilings, and floors as directed by the technician. Cable preparation such as; stripping, terminating, and crimping cable ends according to industry standards. Helping to install mounting hardware for cameras, access control panels, and other low voltage equipment. Properly labeling all cables and equipment to ensure system clarity. Cleaning and prepping work areas, including drilling holes for cable runs. Properly using basic hand tools like wire strippers, crimpers, cable cutters, and drills. Basic troubleshooting such as identifying and reporting potential issues with cable runs or installations.
