Special Education Education Assistant at WHEA

Location: West Hawaii Explorations Academy (WHEA), Kailua Kona, HI

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: Hawaii DOE salary schedule, based on years of experience and education.

Position Overview:

We seek a highly organized and motivated Special Education Assistant to support our Special Education students. This role involves various tasks, including student support, intervention data collection, and communication with the Special Education team. The SpED EA's job is instructional, under the guidance of certificated personnel, and provides direct services to children/youth with disabilities and their families, including:

- One-on-one tutoring

- Classroom management assistance

- Instructional assistance

- Assist in modification of curriculum

- Assist with scheduling appointments and meetings for Special Education

- Collect student data

- Assist with school activities involving Special Education students

Qualifications:

- Collaborative team player

- Positive “can-do” attitude

- High school diploma or equivalent

- Strong organizational and time management skills

- Proficiency in Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides)

- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks

- Strong attention to detail

- Experience in a school setting is preferred but not required
